I have installed a few applications to My Storage and the image files associate with these apps show up in the Photo Album application. Is there a way to prevent certain folders being scanned for inclusion of images in the Photo Album or perhaps a way to specify which folders I want it to monitor for pictures to include in the album?

This happened to me as well with Google maps. The Icons showed in the photo album. :D

I changed the file properties of the offending files to hidden via activesync and they stopped showing in photo album. :P

Now if only it worked with the audio files in touchplayer as well I'd be happy, because they still show up in the libary! :)

Here is the solution:

You have to exclude the unwanted folder by modding the registry

1) With a registry editor go to HKLM/Software/TecAce/PhotoAlbum/ExcludeFolders

2) Add a new string value for every folder you want to exclude, you must give them the name of 000, 001, 002,... etc

As string data you must add the folder address, you must separate folder with the symbol \ (like the picture below)!!!

Example: If you want to exclude Program files folder, you have to make a new string value like "001" and you have to add \My storage\Program files

That's it!!!

Notice that you have to clean the thumbnails that Photo Album creates! I use the clean option of SKTools :)

As you can see it works with multi-language roms as well!!!

Κάρτα αποθ. = Storage card

Η αποθ. μου = My storage

This is for Greek Rom!

If you have an English Rom you have to write "Storage Card" and "My Storage" (without the quotes) my friend!!! :)

You can also make a clean by deleting all the files inside "\Application Data\PhotoAlbum.Data". It will reload all the photos in the Omnia based on the parameters set (i.e. folders excluded).

There is a way (sort of) short of naming each and every folder to exclude.

If you use :-

\ in the excludefolder reg - then everything is excluded

\Storage Card - then all files in the storage card are excluded

\My Storage - then all files in My Storage are excluded

But if you have stuff all over the place in all locations then the only way to exclude some directories is to create individual exclusions.

Thanks to inmatrixout for pointing out the original solution.

Now to see how to prevent TouchPlayer from scanning everything.... as I used to say in the i900 forum, SS must have hired programmers who have absolutely no idea of organisation or user habits.

how about folder 'Program Files' in My storage. i want to exclude all picture in Program Files folder including its subfolder.

Make exclude \My Storage\Program Files only work for folder Program Files but not its subfolder.

Make a trailing slash at the end. So instead of

/my storage/Program Files

use

/my storage/Program Files/

You probably only have to ignore your /Program Files/ directories on your storage cards, and that should be enough.

Hi,

because I don't want to add the Values manually after each hardreset I have done

a small tool that writes my Folders to the Registry from a textFile.

Perhaps someone is interested in it.

Only write your Values in the "ExcludePhotoFolder.txt and run the exe File.

Also you can delete all entries in the registry and the thumbnail files.

Best Regards

Hi all this has done my head in, but i think i've cracked it. If you connect your Omnia via usb and set to mass storage you can then go and change the attributes of offending files to hidden using your pc browser, this seems to work spot on.
