Remember Dashwire, one of the original "cloud based" online backup services?

Well they've just announced Dashworks which is described as
Enabling Mobile Operators, Device Makers and Retailers, to quickly and cost effectively deliver a new generation of customized consumer services on open mobile phone platforms.

First to roll out the new system are Best Buy Mobile and they've called it mIQ. The mIQ service allows smartphone users to take the information captured on their mobile devices and access it from an easy-to-use Web interface on any computer. Once a user signs up for this free service – contacts, text messages, calendar events, calls, photos, videos, and phone settings – are seamlessly uploaded from the mobile device and safely backed-up in a personal mIQ account in the “cloud.”

Sounds pretty cool, but what’s happening to Dashwire.com?

Well according to the Dashwire blog
...the service is no longer accepting new user sign ups.

...If you have a Dashwire.com account already, you will be able to continue to log in and use the service on Dashwire.com. We will continue to provide the service and store your data until at least the end of the calendar year (12.31.09) when we will make it easy to save all your data to your PC, and or migrate your information to services from Dashwire licensees if you’re interested.

...Customers that are interested in using the exciting experiences Dashwire technology unlocks on your phone, can sign up for mIQ, the awesome new service from Best Buy Mobile, that is built on our mobile-web connected service platform, DASHWORKS.
