Need help to connect to Exchange

Hi all, apologies if this has been addressed before but I can't seem to easily find out any details on it. Most of the threads seem to talk about ROM flashing :)

Anyway, I came from a WinMo background and new to Android. I love my Hero despite it's flaws. Keeping my Omnia II just to see if WinMo 6.5 is worth it.

Anyways, I can't seem to connect my out-of-the-box Hero to my company's Exchange. I'm sure I keyed in all the details in the Manual setup correctly because I am able to select what to sync with the Exchange server (Mail, Contacts and/or Calendar). However, when I pressed on Finish setup, I just get an error saying "Failed to create the account. Please try again later."

I know that my company does enforce security policies pushed down to WinMo phones; when I setup for my Omnia II, I had to define a phone unlock security pin. However, since Hero/Android/Sense works differently (security pattern rather than security pin), is this the reason why I can't setup my Exchage emails?

Any more information on this is greatly appreciated!
