Hi guys,

I have a problem where Samsung's PC Studio no longer recognises my i8000. Initially I installed the latest software from Samsung's webpage, and was successfully using it with my phone. Now, however, when I connect my phone, I get an error message saying "An unregistered model has been connected. Communication cannot proceed." I can't do anything at this point, and I've tried deleting my account from PC Studio, uninstalling the phone drivers from Windows, and I'm at a loss. My phone isn't flashed with any unreleased ROM's etc, and up until a few days ago it was working fine. Can anyone offer any advice?

Cheers, Stibbzy.

Did you try connecting it on another USB port? Maybe the drivers are the problem. If not, connect your phone in mass storage mode, then, when Windows recognizes it, unplug, restart windows, put your phone in active sync, then plug it in again. On a different USB port, again.

Hope it helps, I had the same problem with Win 7. That's how I fixed it.

There is, as of yet, no real solution. It has to do with crappy software from Samsung's side. Spoke to Samsung, and they acknowledged their software only works under XP 32 bit and from what I've gathered on other forums only up to SP2.

To recap:

- It works, in some cases, on XP SP2 32 bit

- It seems it doesn't work on XP SP3

- It doesn't work under XP 64 bit

- It doesn't work on Vista 32/64 bit

- It won't work on Windows 7

- It seems they use a very old driver model since it only works in XP, so not likely it will work anytime soon on the new platforms :)
