Evening all,

Just got my Omnia 2 this evening. I hoped i'd be able to install TomTom Navigator 6 which has been my trusty companion for years now, but sadly it's having none of it. Looks like a serious incompatibility issue with the graphics drivers. I begrudge paying £90 for the new TomTom 7 which from what i've read on here briefly doesn't work properly anyhow without fudging it. I might pay in the region of £30 for an upgrade from TomTom 6 to 7, but doesn't look like I can.

Does anyone know a work around with this?

Is it too much to ask that a newer version of Win Mo would be backwardsly compatible!?!? :)

Cheers,

Mike

Have'nt you got this backwareds ??

It is'nt Winmo's issue, it is Tomtom that is not fixing a problem that has been known for quite a long while.

iGo, Garmin and most other GPS software work just fine.

Works well with a splitter like gps port or gps gate.

Got my Omnia 2 3 days ago, and today found a workaround for the TomTom 6 installation failure. Before you install you have to use WVGAFIX to change the screen resolution to VGA (480x640). Get a copy here: http://www.pda-ppc.com/download/utilities/...nt/WVGAFIX.html or Google for it.

If you have already managed to discover that TomTom 6 appears not to install on the Omnia 2, you have in fact already installed it... BUT if you managed to get past the first setup screen which prompts for the language you have almost certainly installed a language you don't want. In which case find and delete a file called navigator.cfg in My Device\Program Files\Navigator, then run the install again.

Although this gets TomTom 6 running, it doesn't look quite as good as it did on the lower res screen...

Next problem is that TomTom 6 doesn't like the internal GPS. I have an external Bluetooth GPS and it works fine with that, but can't seem to get the internal GPS working. (I know the internal GPS is ok as it works with Google maps and GPSed, but ...)
