Hi;

Ive upped 23506 to my phone.

I think there are some bugs in it.

First, whole section of "getting started" in Titanium seems to not work properly. If I click any of the items nothing happens, just bottom menu is changed and I can click "X" to close.

2nd thing. I cant transfer files from my laptop to phone, and Ive never had problems with that before. I think its connected with BT icon on top bar which is not showing even if I make phone visible. Pairing working fine, phone is discoverable.

Restoring from PIMBackup takes ages, much longer than in any other rom

Except that I love this rom. Simple, without unneccessary crap :)

regards

Darek

Thanks for the info.

I'm currently running 21874 and this ROM does not seem to have any issues with "Getting Started". I can also connect it by ActiveSync over Bluetooth and use that to transfer files - if that's what you are referring to.

All my V8 ROMs are using the same OEM stuff (drivers, settings, Samsung apps) so they should be the same, but there might be some issues within the WM6.5.1 23506 OS part as it is considered beta, but I'm a little to lazy to re-flash my phone to test it.

Can anyone else confirm these issues with the 23506 ROM? Please also let me know if you don't have this problem...

it could be the best rom with a bit more omnialite :) calendar and file manager :D

If you like the OmniaLITE apps. Why not just install it afterwards. I like to keep my ROMs clean so they can be configured individually. Sector has a nice thread with all the OmniaLite apps.

If enough users request it I might try to make an OmniaLite customization cab, for an easy "total conversion" :D

I've not touched any of the "touch" registry settings at all.

You could try some of the tips for improving touch response as posted here, but I don't believe that it really improves anything. If you experience a change I think it's likely caused by the "placebo effect" of believing in the change, but I may be wrong. You can try it for yourself if you want to.

In my opinion the touch screen sensitivity of the Omnia is quite bad and it degrades over time.

Hi Mr.Hammer,

Could you please explain what are the differences between your 3 V8 releases?

I'm just not quite sure which one is the most suitable for me.

Anyway, thanks a lot work your great work!!!

23088 and 23506 are WM6.5.1 builds with the newer UI (start button at the bottom of the screen). They are beta builds from different branches. They look very similar.

21874 is a WM6.5 build and looks similar to the WM6 (start menu at the top), but still have Titanium and Honeycomb and some other advantages to WM6. I don't think this is beta, but I actually don't know. I'm running this build myself and it's very stable. When it's used with FingerSuite I think it's almost as finger friendly as the WM6.5.1 builds.

Hammer, about the touch response, I think you need to cook FtouchSL in your ROMs, since other chefs do that and that's why some people feel the touch response not so good. I just installed it because is a must to me (FtouchSL i mean).

LEAP: I can't show you the "original" memory usage since I installed my programs, but it was like ~150MB Storage ~57MB Program, Omnia lite Dialer activated.

@Mr.Hammer:

man, first of all I wanna a big thank you for you great roms, after many roms tested around here from many known chefs, I've come to the conclusion that your roms rock. Currently just installed the V8 build 21874 rom, as I greatly appreciate the classic interface.

Now I have some questions (proposals):

- could it be that you cook some programs directly into your roms, as FtouchSL and Small Icons.cab, which I install everytime after flashing your roms. You could spare us some time. :) Once installed the rom is perfect. Without them the touch response is, let's say, not from the best tested... and the big start menu icons are not that sharp, and , as I said, I have to install that cab to make it look good. You could also make them to look like in the Ryrzy's rom's, without that spotlight on the checked (selected) item, but with that different selection item, as in the following picture;

screen01d.jpg

- another problem met in all custom roms is when I'm using Nitrogen player, and I use the g'sensor option to toggle display on/off, the display shuts down but it won't turn back on unless I press the power button, which didn't happen with standard roms.

And... that's it. Thanks again! You're doing the greatest job around here. :D

I love Large Icons and the way how this ROM looks like, so if small icons are your preference it doesent mean that all like it :) Touch response is shitty on Omnia with or without FtouchSL (at least I cant see any difference).

Ive tried Hard Reset and problems still occured. Getting Started doesnt work from Titanium and Start Menu (cant make any selection), as well as Bluetooth. In my opinion new look of 6.5.1 is finally usable without any additional programs, so Im not going to step back into classic one. Ill try 23088 instead and report after.

Is there any chance to add network autoconfiguation at the first start? Also if I could suggest something, holding start button for a while to run task manager (Showcase or oryginal) would be nice. Thats "saves" hardware button for something else :D

That also means that if you like those big bluried icons (I mean all the icons from original samsung omnia rom), not everybody does. :) I saw other people before me complaining about that. It was a suggestion. Anyway, I was talking to Mr.Hammer, not you, so, if you don't mind...

I dont mind :D Just show me that "big blured icons". There just few of them on 6.5.1 start menu, most of them are in settings which you dont visit to often. The rest is nice looking hq ones.

Just upgraded to 23506, first up excellent ROM. I love the cleaness of it. No extra apps, no themes, nothing. Just the way I need it to do what I want, so a big big thank you.

Now on to the bugs. I can confirm that the Getting Started stuff doesn't work. I ended up removing it using CHome Editor, as not even the Remove option that is built into it works.

And, I don't know if anyone else is suffering this, but I can't add a recipient to a new SMS from Menu > Add Recipients > Contacts. The contact list never appears when I do this. I can send messages by typing in numbers or by going via Contacts and selecting "Send Text Message", but because the contact list won't appear from the menu it's not possible to send the same message to multiple recipients or forward a message to someone else. Hope you can fix this one, as for me this is pretty much a show stopper.

You can try 23088, Getting Started working fine, and I dont have problems with Bluetooth as well (However still no icon on top bar). And they looks and feel the same.

Well done Mr Hammer...

... I'm trying 23506 first then 23088.

And thanks for sticking to your guns (no ftouch or other crap) :)

It's really nice to find a ROM maker (since I'm presuming the demise of dddrko - he hasn't been around for a while), who's knocking out (cooking) essentially very clean ROM's.

I love what you're doing here - keep it up and don't bow to pressure, there are plenty of excellent 'dishes' from other chefs from around the world to cater for all :D

Do you have the same issues with adding a contact to an SMS under 23088?

Thanks for reporting the bug about SMS sending "Menu > Add Recipients > Contacts"

I can confirm that this bug also exist in build 21874. So now I know that is a general problem across all the V8 builds. I will try to investigate this - hopefully in the evening.

I like the small icons too, but again the idea is to keep the ROM simple and as close to stock as possible (except for the dialer as I think the stock dialer has to small buttons) so therefore I will not incorporate the small icons, or install FTouchSL. If you like it then customize it afterwards. I guess most people also install there own theme and some other apps anyway. Personaly I use a MortScript that I made myself for customizing and installing applications.

I don't use the Nitrogen player and as this problem is present in all custom roms (WM6.5 i guess) then there is probably nothing I can do about it.

Yes - but it has to be cooked in.

My ROM is based on DXID1 and in this ROM the large volume control (VolumeControl.dll) is linked my an essential app/driver (accsensor_app.exe). I know it possible to "unlink" these two files and thereby restoring the built in volume control, but personally I haven't found a clean way of doing this, and somehow I actually like the large volume control. So I do not plan to remove it for now.

First of all thank you for your excellent ROM.

I don't know if this is a bug or perhaps is additional software i have installed, but in 23506 when i try to see any e-mail attachments i receive this error "Can not open the attachment". I can save the attachment to memory and open it with the corresponding proggy. It happens to me with pdf, words, txt and excel.

Any ideas?

I have your 23056 and I think the memory usage (storage, programs) is awesome. How is that one compared to your new 23088?
