Guest Daro.UK Posted November 16, 2009 Report Posted November 16, 2009 Fixes for V8 and links for V9 (with the fixes) posted on first page. Enjoy :) Thanks for quick fix Mr.Hammer :D Can you check for Bluetooth icon on 23088? Its not showing when its on, however its working fine. Thats my biggest concern so far. regards D.
Guest steff195 Posted November 16, 2009 Report Posted November 16, 2009 I like the small icons too, but again the idea is to keep the ROM simple and as close to stock as possible (except for the dialer as I think the stock dialer has to small buttons) so therefore I will not incorporate the small icons, or install FTouchSL. If you like it then customize it afterwards. I guess most people also install there own theme and some other apps anyway. Personaly I use a MortScript that I made myself for customizing and installing applications. I don't use the Nitrogen player and as this problem is present in all custom roms (WM6.5 i guess) then there is probably nothing I can do about it. Ok, man, thanks for the reply, those were just suggestions, gonna try the new v9 of 21874 now, and I will customize it afterwards. You're doing a great job! Thanks!
Guest Mr.Hammer Posted November 16, 2009 Report Posted November 16, 2009 I have your 23056 and I think the memory usage (storage, programs) is awesome. How is that one compared to your new 23088? I think it's very similar but have a look at the first page as I've added some screenshots of the memory usage after hard reset.
Guest Mr.Hammer Posted November 16, 2009 Report Posted November 16, 2009 Thanks for quick fix Mr.Hammer :) Can you check for Bluetooth icon on 23088? Its not showing when its on, however its working fine. Thats my biggest concern so far. regards D. I don't think that the Bluetooth icon is a standard WM6.5(.1) feature, and I think if it exists in other custom ROM they have added some software to make it show - but I'm not sure about that. If you have used another WM6.5.1 custom ROM which includes the icon could you please let me know which one and I might have a look at it in the near future. If you are running the V9 build 21874 something like CareAce Bluetooth Icon Notifier seems to work as expected. Maybe you can try it on build 23088 and see if it works - if you dare. I might suggest that you install it and remove the .lnk in \windows\startup and then execute \windows\BtIconNotifier.exe manually to be on the safe side. If it crashes your phone then you can just reboot and it will not start automatically again. If it works then create the link in \windows\startup again.
Guest djsolidsnake86 Posted November 16, 2009 Report Posted November 16, 2009 Yes - but it has to be cooked in. My ROM is based on DXID1 and in this ROM the large volume control (VolumeControl.dll) is linked my an essential app/driver (accsensor_app.exe). I know it possible to "unlink" these two files and thereby restoring the built in volume control, but personally I haven't found a clean way of doing this, and somehow I actually like the large volume control. So I do not plan to remove it for now. hmm, i find the win volume control better, however i use spb mobile shell 3.5.1 i think that those omnia applications must be installed separately, you can make the next roms clean with application separately?

All roms which Ive used before had BT icon build in, so I thought thats a standard feature - my mistake. Thanks for the link, its working fine now! Magnified icon (after touching top bar) is low res but I dont care about it. I havent used to many 6.5.1 before, first was Sector one (yours second) and as far I remember small icon were like it is now, but magnified one were hi-res. You are the best :) D.

Maybe I'll do that one day. For now I like the ROM as it is. It is what I would call "lightly customized". The problem is that it's not possible to make one ROM that makes everyone happy as we all have our own opinions and some of the customizations like the Large Volume control has to be cooked in. As far as I know it's not possible to install (or remove) it afterwards.
Guest steff195 Posted November 17, 2009 Report Posted November 17, 2009 (edited) Mr.Hammer, I understood you wanna keep your roms as close to standard, it's ok by me, but, after trying v9 with 21874, I say you should definetely do something about the touch. It's way too bad! Even with the tricks I made I couldn't improve it. That's the reason I "uninstalled" it. :) Please, don't get me wrong! I saw other users complaining about that and I just wanted to emphasize that problem. Edited November 17, 2009 by steff195

There might be some "magic tricks" that I do not know about yet... but as said many times earlier in various threads - "the omnia touch screen sucks". Some people say that it can be improved by installing FTouchSL others say that some reg entries needs to be modified as discussed in this thread. Some people say that no matter what they do there is no significant improvement... so I really don't know what to believe. Therefore I keep it stock and let the users modify what they want for themselves. Of course if I some day find the "magic trick" (maybe an updated touch driver that needs to be cooked in...) I'll do something about it.
Guest steff195 Posted November 17, 2009 Report Posted November 17, 2009 (edited) @Mr.Hammer: First of all I wanna assure you that I’m very pleased with my touch on Omnia. I believe I have the new generation touchscreens, as discussed in “change touch panel topic”. I tried both methods: by registry or by ftouch... no visible improvements. The idea is that my touch works like a charm with other roms. For example: Khuanchai's 21851, Sector’s… but those roms have other issues I don’t like, that’s why I preffered your roms. If the touch was fixed on your roms, those would be the ultimate roms. I currently use a 6.1. DXIA5 version cooked by me (DXIA5 seemed the best 6.1. rom for me, that’s why I cooked some things upon it just to get some extra free space and to get rid of some things I don't use). I want to leap to a 6.5. rom, but I just don’t find anything to satisfy me. I think I'm gonna cook one myself... but I have never tried cooking a 6.5 rom. :) @leap_ahead: I tried fav hackings and other tricks (trust me, I’m no newbie in Omnia business) but no results… and the link you provided doesn’t work. Guest leap_ahead Posted November 17, 2009 Report Posted November 17, 2009 Khuanchai have the best screen sensitivy ..
Guest fallafab Posted November 17, 2009 Report Posted November 17, 2009 Hi Mr Hammer, I've finally decided to try to flash my Omnia to a WM6.5 rom. It was the first time ever for me an I chose your 23088 rom as apparently there was some issues with the 23506. So I've flashed yesterday with your V8 (if only I knew the V9 was coming up today!!! :) ) and I have to say I love it! As far as the touch is concerned I found it better now on the 6.5.1 than on 6.1. It might just be an impression but even if it's the case I can't see anything wrong with the touch on your 23088 V8. What I like about your rom is that it's very light and clean. Loving it! If I have one suggestion though, could you please do something about those icons in the settings menu that are not doing anything (Divx, Themes, and so on). Thanks again for you great job!!!
Guest tingchung_chin Posted November 17, 2009 Report Posted November 17, 2009 Khuanchai have the best screen sensitivy .. I do agree with u, he had the best MAGIC on screen sensitivity :D :D :D His bybrid ROM will be missed :) :D :D

Don't get me wrong, you cooked a great rom, but if you don't know how to make a ggod touch response never explain it with the hardware if you're not into it, your touch response sucks even with new panels

It's a bit too easy to just blame it on the hardware (and "sucks" might not be the appropriate word to describe the screen), but in my own opinion the Omnia has quite low screen sensitivity compared to other touch screen phones that I've had my hands on. Guest jmsmartins Posted November 17, 2009 Report Posted November 17, 2009 if you are concerned about touch in MR Hammer's roms just install Ftouchsl and touch response to device. set touch response to 11 (default=10) and soft reset. and then enjoy
Guest Posted November 17, 2009 Report Posted November 17, 2009 I'm kinda new to this, but have read a LOT about different roms, and yours seems to be the most clean one. I have only one question which keeps me from installing this ROM: Is a 6.5.1 ROM in anyway dependent on what kind of Phonepart ROM is installed? I have the i900XXHI4 installed.

Guest Posted November 17, 2009 Report Posted November 17, 2009 this rom has no phone part included, so yours will remain Is there any reason why I should upgrade the current phonepart other than different GPS behaviour and batterylife? I mean, compatibilitywise, will things improve?
Guest Mr.Hammer Posted November 17, 2009 Report Posted November 17, 2009 Is there any reason why I should upgrade the current phonepart other than different GPS behaviour and batterylife? I mean, compatibilitywise, will things improve? If "compatibility" means compatibility with various WM applications, I don't think the phone-part will have any impact, so if you are satisfied with how your phone/GPS works just stay with your current version.

Thnx mate, you're a king among kings. ... they should make an easy to understand list of available phonepart roms and their pros/cons and limitations. I'm not really satisfied with my GPS, and general reception isn't as good as I want it to be. But I'm installing your ROM right now. After that, FtouchSL, Touch Response and Titanium will be installed I guess.

It's independent of the operating system so you can experiment with the phone-part without loosing any settings or files.
Guest plguzman Posted November 19, 2009 Report Posted November 19, 2009 The new 6.5.3 builds look very good. The faster ever IMO. When we will have a 28002 build from you? Cheers!
