Guest omnia2i8000 Posted October 17, 2009 Report Posted October 17, 2009 after searshing in the web: i found out this: Hi, I'd like to share my ordeal, thanks to the incorrect information in the manual. I bought i8000 in HK without a local warranty but in cheaper price. In other words, I have to pay for repair. I have been using the machine for 3 days without any problems. In the morning on the 4th day, the machine hanged after a call. I searched through the manual for the location of the reset button. Though it could be found, there was no response when pressed. I tried two or three times without success. In the end, I found the correct location of the reset button and made a soft reset. After the soft reset, I could not receive any signal in the antenna icon. I didn't know what had happened! I could not get a replacement after the 3-day test period from the seller. I had to send it back to Samsung in HK which charges me $2350; the price of the machine is only $4000. Like you guys, I searched through the web for solutions and I came across your posts and got the inspiration for the cause of the problem and also the solution for it. As someone said, the button is actually the antenna of the PDA. After a few presses, the metal ring had been damaged to the extent that the signal reception was intermittent. What I have done is to cut out a half cm of wire from a clip and insert it into the hole. Miraculously, the reception comes back to normal. To boost the signal reception, I insert a L-shape wire and the reception icon becomes full. Hope my sharing could help someone who is as unlucky as me! Kursk :) :( :( ;) ;) ;)
Guest Yohng Posted October 17, 2009 Report Posted October 17, 2009 ... and this RESET switch has no sens ... You allready remove the cover, it is so easy to remove the battery .... @omnia2i8000 : if you did not touch the plug intead the reset switch .... and hard reset did not solve your problem, maybe you can try to flash again ?
Guest bobobird Posted October 17, 2009 Report Posted October 17, 2009 good work fixing the broken antenna. BUT.... you could have taken the manual along with you to the service center and placed all blame on Samsung for printing the wrong info as you would not have poked the antenna had th manual been correct.
