Guest insoniq Posted October 20, 2009 Report Posted October 20, 2009 I'm using Garmin Mobile XT and I'm trying since I got the phone to get a gps signal. Under GPS signal, its "aquiring satellites" for over 30 mins (longest I've tried), but doesn't get a lock. Blue bars with numbers below come and dissapear. Set as Com7:Com7, XTRA downloaded, and in an open place. I've tried changing the baud rate with same results. I'm starting to think something is wrong with the unit I have.
Guest tacchan23 Posted October 20, 2009 Report Posted October 20, 2009 You can try this: General Settings - GPS 1) GPS program port : COM 7 2) GPS hardware port : COM 9 3) Baud Rate : 9600 ( works ok with me !!! ) 4) Enable Manage GPS automatically ( Click ON ) Yesterday I got the first fix after installing Garmin in 3 minutes (with XTRA downloaded)

I had the same problem as you and i think the best way for me was to firstly ensure that the latest xtra info was downloaded, and then leave it in an open area for 15mins. oh, in the setup for the satellite in your GMXT, based on the above, you should chose com7 as the com that is detecting.
Guest x_cal1bur Posted October 20, 2009 Report Posted October 20, 2009 Instead of using COM3, I am using GPS Intermediate Driver. Still experimenting, but at least it won't keep searching for the com port.

If you ever disable the GPS once in Garmin XT and exited. You could try the difference to see which configuration show the signal bar faster. Using com there is no problem. Nobody's complaining. I have set in Windows Mobile to manage GPS automatically, so should let it does its work. Still experimenting.

No, no need. Did you try the settings I posted before?
Guest C J Posted October 21, 2009 Report Posted October 21, 2009 gg downstairs to the open field to try now. thx..
Guest insoniq Posted October 22, 2009 Report Posted October 22, 2009 The thing is that it's showing satellite info when I'm indoors! This is under GPS info, the screen with the circles on the top and the bars with satellite numbers below them. I've downloaded the recent XTRA and tried different baud rates, same results. I guess I'll try to change the COM ports or something.
Guest spectral77 Posted October 22, 2009 Report Posted October 22, 2009 it is laggy, often i already passed the turn and mobile xt will prompt me to turn
Guest Stockholm Posted October 23, 2009 Report Posted October 23, 2009 I do like TomTom but need gpsgate and it work great but when running it the proximity sencor don't work, So, the screen will not shut down when I'm on the phone. I also tried GPSPLEX, did work fine but same problem with proximity sensor. Anyone succeeded to get any other gpsgate to work without any glitches?

Guest NewForce Posted November 13, 2009 Report Posted November 13, 2009 (edited) I had just tried out Garmin Mobile XT yesterday, after someone having problem with over at the other website Downloaded below files from Garmin and others website GarminMobileXTforWindowsMobile_50020w.exe GarminMobileXTFreeBasemap_4xxxx.exe GarminMobileXTSupportFiles_4xxxx.exe gmapprom1_2009.5.zip With Singapore Omnia-2 official WM6.5 from Samsung SC and GPS settings by default settings, GPS program port = COM7, GPS hardware port = COM9, Baud rate = 4800. All I can say was, so far so good with GUI look good, all functions and re-routing not bad. GPS position enabled about 25sec for the first time using this GMXT GPS software. Consider very fast GPS enabled, but still not as fast as NAVFone which I got it GPS position enabled within 15sec or less, everytime I start it. Edited November 13, 2009 by NewForce

So sometime even my friend was shocked with words, "WOW! That was super fast. 3seconds? Even at cold start? Even with tall building around? That's Amazing!" Edited November 13, 2009 by NewForce
