Guest John Hamelink Posted January 29, 2010 Report Posted January 29, 2010 It's listening then.... so strange that you can't connect. The 'no route to host' suggests it's an issue with your internal network config i'm afraid. P Well I've opened the port in my router, and my phone can connect to the internet without any problems. I even have my phone connecting to my computer's samba server. What are the probable causes in my network that could be blocking access?
Guest AJV Posted January 29, 2010 Report Posted January 29, 2010 (edited) ... the google maps application keeps force closing and I can't find anywhere to download it again from the market - any idea's? I found this: http://android.modaco.com/content-page/296...style/page/640/ in another thread with a link to download the .apk for google maps and put it on the SD card but when I tried to install it says 'Google maps cannot be installed on this phone'. EDIT: Repair of ext2 fixed it! Edited January 29, 2010 by AJV

Guest Stitch15 Posted February 1, 2010 Report Posted February 1, 2010 Just installed this rom, thanks, works great. Only problem I have now is the limited amount of memory on my phone, I keep getting warnings about low memory. Paul says this: A2SD included (fully automatic - thanks cyanogen!) - create a EXT2/3/4 (3 or 4 recommended) partition as your second partition to use. You must NOT have a swap partition on your SD, or it will refuse to mount. Is this the right way to create the extra partition ->http://android.modaco.com/content/htc-hero-hero-modaco-com/293461/how-to-partition-sdcard/#entry1077896 ?? Thanks....

Just use 'partition sdcard' in Recovery menu and make sure to set swap to 0. Edit: This will wipe your sd card mind you though as it will re-format the fat32 partition, incase you got stuff on there you would wana back up first! Edited February 1, 2010 by starkos

Guest Stitch15 Posted February 1, 2010 Report Posted February 1, 2010 (edited) Ok, done. I've made an EXT2 partition of about 1024 on my sd card. - how do I check this? - how do I now if an application is installed on the sd card? I installed CoPilot, but couldn't state where to put it? Thanks! P.S> on my phone I see my sd card is 908 MB with 846 MB available? (i have a 2GB card.) Edited February 1, 2010 by Stitch15

I suggest you make it 512mb which is plenty. The copilot app requires files to be placed on the SD card, so you will need more then 800mb if you're wanting to have photos, videos, etc. on there as well Edited February 2, 2010 by robot1000
Guest Stitch15 Posted February 2, 2010 Report Posted February 2, 2010 Why on earth did you make the EXT partition half the memory your SD Card? Don't really know.... :) Can I simply reformat my sd card in the recovery menu without having to install the modaco rom again on the phone?

Guest giryan Posted February 5, 2010 Report Posted February 5, 2010 romraid has referer checking, something about the way you're downloading them means that the referer information isn't getting to romraid. Try just right clicking and chosing save as, or using a different browser.
Guest bograma Posted February 5, 2010 Report Posted February 5, 2010 (edited) romraid has referer checking, something about the way you're downloading them means that the referer information isn't getting to romraid. Try just right clicking and chosing save as, or using a different browser. Thank you, it worked as you said! But I guess I'm missing something:I'm in recovery mode and I don't know how to move to the next step: "- Stay in recovery mode. - Select 'nandroid backup' from the menu to do a backup - Select 'Flash zip from sdcard' and apply the main ROM" Where do I select "nandroid backup" again? from what menu?! I have a blue screen saying te recovery file was written ok... Thanks, ----------- Later edit: I partitioned the SD card and also put the Vanilla ROM, now it runs smoothly. I also moved all the apps onto SD. Now how can I see that, how can I be sure that happened? And how do I delete the default apps that drive me crazy so much: RoadSync, Block Braker, default browser and File Manager, Google Mail and Provisioning Meesage?!! Thanks, Edited February 5, 2010 by bograma
Guest bograma Posted February 5, 2010 Report Posted February 5, 2010 disregard my second question, ive worked out how to remove servosearch using adb. any info on wether i will loose my apps will still be appreciated though. Can you please detail how you removed the unwanted programs with adb?I've tried but failed, I always get "no application was found". Thanks,

I have a blue screen saying te recovery file was written ok... Thanks, I don't think that you are in recovery mode. ;) I think that you're in the fast boot mode. (blue screen, white text?) You have to reboot, and enter recovery mode. Removing the battery and USB cable is the only way to get out of fastboot. If you have the december update then hold Menu and the Red button as the phone boots. EDIT: Heh, didn't notice you'd edited your post :D Edited February 5, 2010 by giryan
Guest bograma Posted February 5, 2010 Report Posted February 5, 2010 (edited) The tutorial said nothing about going out of recovery and press Quick Boot/Recovery (I guess?-I forgot) and choose partition SD and then load custom rom zip from the card. Now I need to know how to remove some of the apps I wrote above, the default 1s! Later edit: because nobody answered, I'll edit this one instead of writting a new post. I installed the rom, it works fine, by the means of Quick Boot I went to Recovery and partitioned the SD (2 partitions), moved all my apps onto card and now I can't: - boot the phone with card inside , it goes to infinite loops with the T-Mobile logo - I can't use any of the apps from the card and they don't show in the menu, but they're there because if I go to Market, it tells me to update them. - I get a little icon on the notification bar telling me it checks the card for errors but never quits I'll read some more. Guest bograma Posted February 8, 2010 Report Posted February 8, 2010 /Edit: I've reverted back to the stock rom, and everything is fine. Stick with that for a while. I've had it with this phone. I need to revert back to original ROM. Did you do that by downloading and installing the December update from T-Mo site?Thanx,

Guest bograma Posted February 8, 2010 Report Posted February 8, 2010 that's one way to do it. another way is nandroid restore (if you've done a backup). Thank you. I did do a Nandroid backup but now I can't find it - duh, I was so fed-up that I formated/partitioned the card at least 5 times..so I lost it:)) But that's ok, I kept this ROM,reseted the phone and I'm reinstalling all my apps on internal memory again until a faster/more convenient way of putting apps on card is available - that's mainly the issue with my phone. I keep the rom cause I like the speed and the simplified UI. Thanks,

Guest giryan Posted February 9, 2010 Report Posted February 9, 2010 The online kitchen is now included in the main topic, and the wavesecure and titanium mobile components of the kitchen have been updated to the latest versions. P The links to the kitchens in both of the first posts(here, and Vanilla Style) appear to be incorrect, I'm ending up at http://android.modaco.com/content//// and getting a permissions error.

Guest Motoko Posted February 10, 2010 Report Posted February 10, 2010 Yesterday I went from 1.6mcr-tmob to 1.7mcr-tmob (no wipe) and got the reboot message in place of the SSH password in the build number. After several reboots with no further success I followed advice in this thread to wipe and reapply 1.7. The SSH password then showed up as expected. Before I upgraded from 1.6 to 1.7, I made a backup of my apps using Astro. After reapplying 1.7 I restored all the apps from the Astro backup and they are all working fine. Previously, I always used the "My downloads" section in the marketplace to see what updates are available for the apps I've installed. It's quite handy since it marks the program in yellow with an "Update available" message. Now that I've wiped the phone, the "My downloads" list is empty even though all my previous apps have been restored from the Astro backup. This means that I can not tell if there are updates available for each app unless I reinstall them all again through the marketplace, just to get them back on the "My downloads" list. Is there a way of saving the "My downloads" list between wipes? Not wiping isn't always an option, as explained above where I did not get an SSH password from a simple upgrade (non-wipe).
