Guest guy.user Posted November 2, 2009 Report Posted November 2, 2009 Omnia II is finally coming to Canada. According to Samsung Canada, it's a dual band HSPA (850/1900) model w/ WinMo 6.5. I believe the phone part will be different from the original Omnia II... Is it safe to assume that the PDA part is completely the same? Can still I flash it with custom ROM, but only the PDA part while leaving the PHONE part untouched? Thanks a lot in advance!!

If there is a Omnia 2 created specifically for the Canadian market, with a different phone part (and potentially different hardware), then the PDA part could again be different in the way it links into the baseband component etc. I could be wrong, and it could work with no issue, but I wouldn't suddenly assume that it will work. My assumption would be the same with the Verizon Omnia 2. The phone is clearly different to the international version, so I wouldn't assume the international ROM's would work on it. Of course there's a simple way of finding out. Flash your device with the international firmware, and hope for the best. If it bricks your device, then thats a no :D.
