Is it only on your PC that you can not see My Storage?

Check you have Activesync enabled and not USB Mass Storage

if he did hard reset already... I fear the problem is a hardware one :D but first of course check as suggested by awarner (MVP)

during the first days of Omnia2 selling in Singapore, there were many reports of missing "my storage" due to defect in the first batch of Omnia2. the only way to fix it is going to Samsung service center.

Muahahaha... Good luck to you bro. I also kena already. U gotta go back to Samsung liao...

I sent in around 5PM on Saturday, and later in the evening they SMS me to tell me its ready. They even asked if I wanted to upgrade to 6.5 (Your call) and I went pick it up Sunday morning.

According to them, it's a problem with the D-Sub dunno what crap lah... But anywayz... Tough luck :-)

Btw... I'm in Singapore :-)

As the first posts only says that the My Storage is not visable on the Laptop PC, it does not say that it is not visable on the PC.

So does it still show when exploring the device with the built in file explorer on the Omnia2?

Can we make a rom update if My Storage is missing?

I have the same problem and tried to downgrade the firmware but it does not allows as the phone need the 8GB storage for storing the firmware upload. i return to smasung and they change the sub motherboard twice before i can see the 8GB internal storage.

You would not need 8GB for the firmware upload unless you were trying to do everything on the device instead of using the pc, if that was the case then it would make the 2GB models non upgradable.

You do not need the 8GB internal memory to flash your phone, you need to choose PDA (*.nb0 format by Sorg) and not Movinand (*.MST file).

So u will need the ROM files from Sorg and not from Secany... :D

If you can not c "My Storage" using any file explorer even after hard reset, it is 100% confirmed that u need to go to the service centre to fix it.

It does not show both in the phone and in the pc. So after bringing back the phone to samsung did you encountered the same problem again?

I got it fix at the service centre, it just took about an hr to fix. So far i did not encounter any missing 8GB...touch wood... :D

Thanks for your help guys. I think only samsung service center can fix the problem as it is a hardware issue.

hey guys, My Storage is also missing. do you think the service center will fix this for free even if i have upgraded my phone to WM6.5 myself? won't it void the warranty? also, after fixing it, will they be able to recover the files in it?

......

during the first days of Omnia2 selling in Singapore, there were many reports of missing "my storage" due to defect in the first batch of Omnia2. .....

I had this trouble a few month before and a few days after i've bought my O² (Not from Singapore).

I've tried NueStorage without result. It was impossible to mount the storage.

I was lucky because my original ROM (I8000HZHIG4) was allready here : I've flashed with it and I found back my storage .

(It was a PDA file with MST fomat, so I'm not sure, you specially need "nb0" format !)

Right now, I've never encounter this trouble again.

Tool Tip Restore your "My Storage"

(Settings --> General Settings --> USB Connection, chọn Mass Storage)

Translated with Google:

1 - Toggle USB Connection on the phone to MASS STORAGE

(Settings -> General Settings -> USB Connection, select Mass Storage)

2 - Connect your phone to the computer, the computer will recognize Mass Storage Device. If you need to backup any important data on your hard drive, you can see it in the computer is open, if it is the backup; not open the computer, the officers be lost so ... )

3 - Format the hard drive of the device on the computer, the default options when setup, not edit anything.

4 - After format is complete, copy the hard drive a few phone file something (music, pictures ...), before "Safely remove this device".

5 - Disconnect phone and computer, restart the phone -> check the hard drive can not see nhé!

i'm not sure if this will work for me coz i've been using the new ROM almost a week before "My Storage" went missing. anyways, i already went to the service center and they said it could be a hardware problem because they already did a hardreset etc. worse thing is, i'll have to wait 3weeks because they have to order for the parts to replace. you can only imagine how frustated i am right now. first i lost my 5yr old files when My Storage was wiped out after flashing a new ROM, and now the actual My Storage is lost. i'm stuck with the 100MB free space of Main Storage right now. i duno, i'm already thinking of buying a 16GB microSD while waiting for my harddrive but it's gonna cost me of course. it's really depressing :)

Yes I've tried severall Hard reset before, w/o effect.

Tips by tacchan23 Tiny1990 was impossible due to "My memory" was missing, even in the Settings -> General Settings -> USB Connection, select Mass Storage.

NueStorage can see the drive but was unable to mount it.

I don't understand : you keep your phone or you allready give to service center ?

If you still have it, why don't you try to flash again (i think the version have no importance!) ?

you can only imagine how frustated i am right now

I can imagine more than you are thinking .... if you know how many trouble i had allready .... :)

I just googled the translation to the above post in Vietnamese (wondering why he'd post here in vietnamese btw°_°), no idea if it makes even sense (and I hope I'll never need to try it myself^^)

There's two things you should gather from this exercise:

1) Research. Do all the research before you flash your phone. It's well documented that "My Storage" is wiped when you flash your phone (and don't check preserve storage). It's to a point where I actually don't even use "My Storage" because I flash my phone so often. If, on the off chance I forget to check the "Preserve Phone Contents" then its buh-bye data.

2) Backups. Always, always, ALWAYS do and have current backups. If your 5 year old files were so important, why store them only on your phone? and on a phone your willing to flash and potentially brick no less.

This isn't a case of "I told you so" or to make you feel bad, but remember flashing your phone takes a certain level of common sense. One thing I've learned working is with computers is that you can't trust them to do what you want them to do, especially since data is so important in this day and age. Hopefully people will read this and take note so they themselves do not fall in the trap.

i'm still using the phone but without the "My Storage" in it. the service center gave it back to me so i could use something while waiting for the harddrive that they have ordered. i just used NueStorage today and it still couldn't see the drive. do you think it's still worth flashing a new ROM to it? what version would you suggest?

I say you leave your phone as is and don't give them any futher reason to void your warranty. If you fiddle with it further, you could potentially worsen things, resulting in them saying your warranty is void.
