Guest AntonioPT Posted January 10, 2011 Report Posted January 10, 2011 I think to remember the firmware was stored in ihex format? How to convert it to this format I can't say. But if you don't find a converter for it I may just write one :D Yap, downgrade to 1.5, replace file, ts firmware upgrade and - tada ... :P Best regards, BB Well, to convert a binary file into hex encoding, if you're using a Linux distro you can run (it should be preinstalled on most distros) "hexdump binaryfile.bin > hex.txt". The hex.txt file should look something like this: 0000c40 7275 7365 2820 6f79 2075 6f64 276e 2074 0000c50 656e 6465 7420 206f 6e65 6261 656c 230a 0000c60 7420 6968 2c73 6920 2066 7469 7327 6120 0000c70 726c 6165 7964 6520 616e 6c62 6465 6920 If you want to get rid of the first column: "cat hex.txt | cut -d ' ' -f 2- > hex2.txt" 7275 7365 2820 6f79 2075 6f64 276e 2074 656e 6465 7420 206f 6e65 6261 656c 230a 7420 6968 2c73 6920 2066 7469 7327 6120 726c 6165 7964 6520 616e 6c62 6465 6920

Guest BigBearMDC Posted January 11, 2011 Report Posted January 11, 2011 Guys calm down. We've got nothing working yet, its just another approach. Toti found out where the original touchscreen firmware is stored in the kernel source and he has got a dump of the Hero's ts firmware. So we might compile the Pulse's kernel and just replace the ts firmware file and try flashin it through the veneer information menu. This might eventually work, but there's absolutely no guarantee. Sorry. Edit: Sorry for my late answer :D Best regards, BB
Guest suriya83 Posted January 11, 2011 Report Posted January 11, 2011 i knew we are gonna have it one day :-)
Guest Posted January 11, 2011 Report Posted January 11, 2011 (edited) i knew we are gonna have it one day :-) Maybe you should read what BigBear said. "This might eventually work, but there's absolutely no guarantee. Sorry." However, I really hope it does, everything that makes this phone less sucky is an improvement! :D Edited January 11, 2011 by Guest

Guest fenek11 Posted January 17, 2011 Report Posted January 17, 2011 Hello May I ask how it is with multitouch if the Android 2.2
Guest ggPeti Posted January 17, 2011 Report Posted January 17, 2011 Don't worry, I'm sure BigBear will post here if he makes any progress. That said, I really want you, BigBear, to know: I admire and appreciate the enormous amount of work you have already put in this project. I really wish you'll come to success, really not only because I want MT on my device but you deserve the joyful feeling of completing this great challenge!

Guest Ramapitecus Posted January 26, 2011 Report Posted January 26, 2011 Please BB, dont get mad with me.. Any news on this?
Guest Posted February 1, 2011 Report Posted February 1, 2011 Taking a risk to ask again. BB how's the dualtouch cooking?
Guest eckengucker1 Posted February 2, 2011 Report Posted February 2, 2011 obviously it didn't work and will never do... Go and buy a gayphone, blade or some of this HTC crap if you're really interested in multitouch. Stop asking the same stupid question over and over again. We have that godawful question now over more than 970 posts. Gosh darn it ;)
Guest ggPeti Posted February 2, 2011 Report Posted February 2, 2011 (edited) obviously it didn't work and will never do...Obviously it has not been proved impossible. Toti's Hero firmware might be the key, we won't know until BigBear comes back and tells everyone. We already saw that both the hardware and software is capable of multitouch, it's just that some of the coordinate data gets lost halfway. Go and buy a gayphone, blade or some of this HTC crap if you're really interested in multitouch.Go and give me money for that, PM me for paypal. Besides, do you realize it's really not just about having multitouch? I for one would be so happy if BB could get it working, because I read through the topic and I admire all the effort that went down in order to make it happen. Stop asking the same stupid question over and over again. We have that godawful question now over more than 970 posts.Human curiousity is wonderful, and the will and ability to solve problems like this is our very nature. And of course it's a joy to be a witness of such achievements, that's why someone always asks if there's any update on the topic. Gosh darn it ;)Go away. Edited February 2, 2011 by ggPeti

Guest BigBearMDC Posted February 18, 2011 Report Posted February 18, 2011 it is be interesting http://www.ryebrye.com/blog/2008/11/22/g1-...-concept-video/ http://lukehutch.wordpress.com/android-stuff/ I know its much to read, but if you read the whole thread you would already have noticed that I even contacted Luke Hutchinson directly (the guy that ported MT to the G1). That was the first thing I tried. I didn't work, obviously :) Thanks for the hint though :D To the rest of you: I'm really sorry, I haven't got any time recently to look further into MT :) But really big thanks to all of you that are supporting me :D Believe me, without you guys encouraging me I would already have given up a while ago. Best regards, BB
