I read somewhere maybe on this forum but can't find or search for it again. I don't think there was a solution in the forum anyway so here goes. I was going to put it in secony's topic but thought that it is best to seperate it from the rom forum.

I have j9 installed and find that the back light dims at the correct time interval when on battery but for some reason the device never turns off automatically. I have it set to 1 minute but it will only turn off if I do it manually with the lock button (side button).

Does anyone else have this problem? I definitely have the settings correct and it used to turn off automatically. I have only installed tomtom and flash light so I doubt there are any programs keeping the device awake.

I have read that maybe flashing eboot may fix the problem but this was for an earlier rom. The funny thing is I flashed a work colleagues i8000 exactly the same way and his one goes to sleep properly.

Can anyone confirm that the eboot flashing may help with the j9 rom?

I had the same problem a couple of times after flashing with different IJx ROMs, but not always. Sometime after flashing the screen would turn off properly. (I never flashed Eboots at that point).

Then I flashed to IK1 yesterday and I had the problem again, so I decied to flash Eboot and Phone too for the first time and the problem disappeared.

This is just my experience, really no idea if it's consistent (becouse as said before, even without flashing Eboot, sometime I had the problem sometime I didn't)

I have a same problem when I flashed with out eBoot but after a second try I flashed with eBoot the problem had solved.

So what version (or what rom version was it included in) of eboot did you flash? It doesn't seem to show up when I look for the version on the device.

My colleagues device went straight from the factory rom to i9 but I have updated with i6, then id and back to i9. But I have never flashed the eboot so mine should be the same as my work colleagues as they were identical. Weird huh?

Since I'm on IJ(, your thread made me curious to give it a try!

I set the time for "dim the back-light" to 60 seconds & "Turn of the device" to 120 seconds.

Waiting for the result!

Ok, background light is completely gone on time.

Now, device went OFF on time as well.

MY PDA is IJ9, eBoot is IJ2

Thanks for your replies. I'm a bit puzzled why I haven't updated the eboot on either my own or my work colleagues but mine behaves differently. As I said the only difference is I updated PDA and phone part of mine to j6 then to jd and then to j9.

But I will give it a go. Been a bit worried about updating the eboot part but I have flashed many times before so the risk seems minimal right?

As the j9 rom doesn't come with eboot I trust it is safe and compatible to use the j6 rom eboot isn't it? I know its like a bios and is independent of the pda and phone rom but just that little bit of paranoia kicking in.

Hey guys, i would like to know if my problem is the same as described above...

When i click at the side button "off", the phone turns off the screen and lock. But after +/-1 minute, the phone wake up at the lockscreen, just like if pressed the side button to wake it up! After 30s again, it goes to sleep mode...

I think thats why my battery is lasting a little...

I've flashed using Secany's rom, just the minimal thing to flash (eBoot is original)

I think i know what the hell it is! In my old HTC i received TONS of promotional messages from my operator. I've disabled the msg program in registry editor...

Those messages are strange. They are not SMS/MMS, they appear in another window, like the built-in operator programs loaded in the SIM CARD.

Does anyone knows how to make the phone ignore SIM Programs/Messages?

Well I flashed my phone with Sorg's j9 pda part and also the eboot. Used the phone and csc from secany's j9 rom and my device now turns off properly. Thanks all for helping. Thought it was best to report back to help anyone else that is experiencing the problem.

I also noticed that the lock device when woken up would previously default to off when I tuned the phone off (hold the power button not lock button).

It now stays as I left it so thats another fix. Not sure if its definitely related to the eboot but even hard resetting didn't fix all this before so it appears updating the eboot did fix these problems.
