Nokia launches charger recall

Nokia is to recall the AC-3E and AC-3U chargers for the Nokia mobile phones due to the risk of 'an electrical shock hazard'

Nokia has announced a free charger ‘exchange program’ for consumers, after it emerged that chargers made by a third party, BYD, are faulty and could cause electric shocks.

Three models of charger are affected: The AC-3E and AC-3U models, manufactured between June 15, 2009 and August 9, 2009; and the AC-4U model, manufactured between April 13, 2009 and October 25, 2009.

So if you have one, it is worth getting it replaced by Nokia - free of charge.

Nokia has set up a website for this recall - you can use it to check to see if your charger is affected or not.

Is yours faulty? Have you used the charger exchange website and if so, was it painless?

From the old "exploding batteries" to electic shocks, at this rate the user will have a shorter life expectancy than the device :)

So it's down to a weak bonding weld on the casing, not good as it's the sort of fault that you will only see when unplugging the charger from the wall socket.
