if you dont set it to vibrate mode, it will still ring even if your headset is attached... i mean, it rings on speaker. is this a normal behavior?

Isn't that a good thing?

Otherwise, if you forget to remove the headset, you would miss all calls.

i dont think so. coz i can't think of anyone plugging in the headset without using it.

also, in our office, it's unethical to listen to music on speakers. so i need to put on the headset. problem is, when someone calls everyone hears it even if i'm on headset. if i switch to vibrate mode, i couldn't listen to the music :)

found a workaround. i just turned the Ring volume (not System volume) to zero manually. pretty tedious huh. and problem is if you forgot to turn it back on

Use G-Profile. Its a very powerful tool with lot of options

Steps:

1. Create an Equipment based profile say "Headset Not Connected"

2. Select Headset "Disconnected"

3. Leave all other settings as default.

4. Create another Equipment based profile say "Headset Connected"

5. Select Headset "Connected"

6. Go to Notifications tab -> Select the check box for Change event -> Select "Phone: Incoming call" -> Select Ring Type "Vibrate"

7. Leave all other settings as default.

8. Quit G-Profile

Voila!! Phone goes to Vibrate whenever connected to Headset but you can still listen to Music

Did you try this and how did you get on if you did? I think that lack of profiles has been hard to adjust to after my years with a Nokia

G-Profile is not the most powerfull profile manager for WinMo but for sure is the most user/finger friendly. Easy to set up and easy to use.

Well, now you know one.

I activate my BT headset in the car, and then plece it in the open center console junk tray next to the handbrake. I don't like wearing when I'm not actually using it.

When I walk around with it on, I put it in my pocket.

If the phone didn't ring, I'd never know I got a call.

Surely I'm not the only person that uses a BT headset, but doesn't lke to walk around looking like all those other Star Trek dweebs that keep theirs on all the time, no?

You don't need to go to all that trouble. If you're running 6.5 it supports the simple profiles of Silent and Vibrate already, and you can get to the switcher for them from the front screen (don't ask me how, I'm an MS3 user).

Or, install S2U2 and use it's volume takeover of the volume rocker (much better anyway than the stock volume control) where silent and vibrate are one click.

And a gazillion other simple solutions.

The point is, all you need to do is find a way to toggle the Silent profile -- even when silent, it still "rings" in the headset.

Thanks for the advice Sir - have you tried it on WM6.5 (it is apperently only supported on 6.1) Also, a download link would be greeat :-)

hi dwaller, i'm not sure about "silent and it still rings in the headset" thing coz i'm using the sound profile widget of SPB, i toggled it to Silent while on headset, and there's no ring. i also tried Vibrate profile, still no sound. or should i not use the SPB widget? or perhaps you could teach me the steps, thanks ;)
