Guest Goodge Posted November 18, 2009 Report Posted November 18, 2009 I must say, I'm not a fan. I just tested 9.7b as well, and of the 3 (9.5, 9.7, 10), I still think 9.5 is the best. Proper text flow, faster panning, etc. Maybe 10b2 will be better...

Proper text flow, faster panning, etc. Maybe 10b2 will be better... what makes you say that? i just downloaded the beta and i must admit i'm astonished, i havn't expected that. it is so much more 'usable' than 9.5 or 9.7beta. panning and zooming feels really fast and for the first time viewing even complex sites is possible without the usual lags, hangups or reload-pauses. maybe you just need to install ginkages ogl-wrapper?! there are a few cons though (sure its a beta... :)): in the full page view the text-width in the frames/table cells/divs whatever is adjusted to the screen width for full zoom mode. maybe this is the fastest way to zoom in and out, but is looks kind of awkward when zoomed out. it uses a lot of memory and we all know that the omnia 2 is a little short on that. so maybe it is not a good idea to run opera10 in the background for long (windows won't let you anyways 'cause it closes apps on a regular basis from which it thinks they are to memory-hungry). there seems to be no custom zoom mode so there is only full page view or zoomed-in-reading view. custom zoom can become handy some times...

I already have the ogl-wrapper installed. I dunno, I'm leaving it installed (since it doesn't effect my 9.5 browser), but it just seems...sluggish. It was faster at loading images though. And as you pointed out, the text-width when zoomed out is wrong. This was also the case for 9.7, and I think the way they intend to keep it (this is not a bug). If they don't have to rewrap the page when you zoom in, it's faster to zoom. But then again, you don't get dynamic range zooming. It's all or nothing. And when nothing, it's wrapped incorrectly. Maybe I just have different expectations from my mobile browser (looking for different things than the average person)...
Guest Goodge Posted November 18, 2009 Report Posted November 18, 2009 I guess my complaints really boil down to a few statements. 1) No dynamic zoom. 2) No dynamic text-wrap. 3) Too much memory usage (which we have none to spare). 4) It's not actually designed to be left running in the background. There's no way to the standard X to "close".
Guest GinKage Posted November 18, 2009 Report Posted November 18, 2009 1) No dynamic zoom. 2) No dynamic text-wrap. And no landscape mode. And, well, no integration with G-sensor, haptics feedback or light control. Also, zooming out with a "back" button is quite awkward.
Guest Hiroshi.Rio Posted November 18, 2009 Report Posted November 18, 2009 Gosh... I think it is simply wonderfullllll... Love it. :)
Guest wlkmn Posted November 18, 2009 Report Posted November 18, 2009 And no landscape mode. there is one, need to do a registry tweak :)
Guest Breit Posted November 18, 2009 Report Posted November 18, 2009 And no landscape mode. And, well, no integration with G-sensor, haptics feedback or light control. Also, zooming out with a "back" button is quite awkward. with the omnia 2 you need AutoOrientation anyways which works fine with opera10 so no problem here! :D besides the AutoOrientation-method there is a option in the settings page to switch to landscape, but of course you are right, no build-in g-sensor support. :) ...still no clue what light control is!? i agree with the zooming issue beeing kinda awkward to zoom out with a button, but zooming in with a 1-tap. however nothing one can't get used to though... 8) overall the browser feels very responsive and i like that alot! :D
Guest Ganhiru Posted November 19, 2009 Report Posted November 19, 2009 I like this new version, it's fast, and with the Open GLS .256 renderer its even faster. :) I'd like to see this version cooked in to a rom.
Guest DeepK Posted November 19, 2009 Report Posted November 19, 2009 there is one, need to do a registry tweak :) Which Registry tweak? Could someone elaborate please...
Guest TiGer0 Posted November 20, 2009 Report Posted November 20, 2009 Very nice, but in 9.7b we could use the IE's favourite, now in 10b we can't.
Guest sekobati Posted November 20, 2009 Report Posted November 20, 2009 i will wait for the beta 2 :) also when i install the new opera can i remove the old one (that comes with the rom)?
