The way the camera saves files is one of my biggest complaints for this phone! I really don't understand why it creates a new folder after every 100 pictures AND also names it as "SNC00001". Since I take pictures often I've now had about 5 or 6 folders on my storage card. And of course, I wouldn't keep all the pictures, so I delete some after I drop them into a folder on my pc. Then... the problem starts when I start to flash to a new rom or hardreset. The counter for the camera RESETS and starts from the beginning! And then it goes and starts filling in all the holes inside the folders causing pictures I take at a certain event to end up ALL over the place, with some being in this folder and some being in that folder. Also due to this, when I store the pictures on the folder in my pc, there will be 2 different pictures sharing the same filename because of this.

Is it only me who has this problem?

I'm wondering is there anyway at all to get it so when the camera captures the images and saves it...

1st: It wont continue to keep making a new folder after every 100 pics. Cause as you guys know, the samsung photo viewer views the pictures by folder and this really messes up how I wish to see the pictures I take. At the moment, what I am doing is using Resco Photo Viewer to see all the pictures in the DCIM folder and sort by time, but... only problem is that Resco Photo Viewer doesn't exactly go to the next or previous picture easily.

2nd: Is there a way to change the camera's picture's filename. I would be perfectly happy if it was something like.. "11-17-09 0001" or if that wasn't possible at least "1117090001" where at least it will save the images by date then number. I really can not find a way to get used to this problem... so any idea guys?

I discovered.. i REALLY like the photoveiwer from the Camera viewback. That one is really nice, and organizes the photos by date too. Is there anyway to access that album without turning on the camera first to go view the pictures?

Pako777 once made some mods to the camera.exe in the i900 to do most of what you have described. If he could do it again for the i8000, that would be really great.

Hi there, can you share with us how you have discovered it? It is indeed a very annoying feature of the standard saving method.

Thanks in advanced

ASAIK, there is no cab yet for i8000 that name the file as date and time, I'm sure one day someone will come up with such a mod, just like for i900.

To get around it now, I use Resco Photo Manager. This prog doesn't care where your photos are divided under different folders, it just display contents of all folders. After a rom flash, you can always reset the photo number by editing registry HKCU\Software\Samsung\Camera, the DCFNumber parameter is the photo number, just set it to the last available number of your photos.
