Guest bennyx8903 Posted November 22, 2009 Report Posted November 22, 2009 Hi everyone, i'm trying to get GPS to work on my O2 without data plan and i need some help. I downloaded NaviComputers which is suppose to do just that. but i don't know how to set up the GPS so that i can get a lock on Satellite. In previous winmo phones i used, under Setting>Phone> i can check off "location on"but i can't find that in the Samsung Setting menu (the touchwiz menu, i can't access regular menu, i'm using 6.5). well, if that's not the reason, how can i get GPS to work? thanks in advance BTW, for those who doesn't know NaviComputers, check it out, it seems pretty cool. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=581474

About NaviComputers, I just tried it a couple of days ago and it worked fine (I used the same settings for GarminXT, as suggested in the thread I linked above) Anyway it may take 5-10min to get the first fix, in case you didn't try long enough.
Guest paw1 Posted November 22, 2009 Report Posted November 22, 2009 Help me out :) I installed NaviComputer, downloaded maps for mumbai(shows 55 Mb so it aint empty), transfered it to the \my storage\prog files\navicomputer\maps directory, deleted the sample.nmap. All i see is a blank blue page when i start navimapper on the device!
Guest bennyx8903 Posted November 22, 2009 Report Posted November 22, 2009 um..i got the old setting to show up, but its incomplete for some reason. For example, under 6.1 setting>personal> there is "phone" and in 6.5 all i have under >personal> is buttons, owner info, and input. also, is there any setting necessary to get Navi computer working? by default im on com7, com9, and 4800.
Guest tacchan23 Posted November 23, 2009 Report Posted November 23, 2009 For me it's working... try baudrate 9600

Hey, i had the same problem... Got a lot of "almost fixed" sats, but nothing more than this... To fix it, change you badrate to 9600! Almost instant sats fix!

Almost instant sats fix! just wondering are you using 6.5? did you have to adjust any other settings? on both 4800 and 9600, im getting "0(10) " under satellite searching, and itsjust not locking. always "search". anyways, i read somewhere that you have to turn on your location, which is under setting>personal>phone. but i dont have that option (maybe because it's 6.5). anything else im not doing? all i did was install navi computer, im testing out the included sample map.and all settings are original (other than when i tried 9600). thanks

With 4800 default baudrate, the sats NEVER fix for me... They stay "almost fixed", but never really fix. With 9600 baudrate, i usually have a cold fix in 5~10 minutes... I don`t have this option either (location)... I've just enabled the XTRA (settings -> general -> GPS -> XTRA), downloaded the latest XTRA data and it's fine... It's strange the 4800 baudrate doesn`t fix but show sats with almost good signal... If you try to communicate with serial connection with diferent baudrates, the communication would be totaly garbled... I think with 4800 it shouldn`t even show any sats!
