Attempted to reduce cache size etc. - none of the well-known registry tricks works... :)((

Win 6.5 i don't think was tested well enough before release to the market or was rushed.

end of story with 6.1 i could open apps and close them and Program Memory Levels would return to normal.... minus a very little

with 6.5 u open and close apps and the memory drops drastically. since upgrading i've had to soft reset a few times cause of memory levels were too low and the phone was slow as crap.

I wish they would allow us customers to downgrade to 6.1 that dn't live in signapore service areas etc

this is ridiculous. we paid so much and yet the device stinks with the low levels

well since WinMo6.5 has been released like 1 month ago, and WinMo6.1 had been around for ages...

why not wait and see how future firmwares will be like?

I would rather be optimistic and try out every firmware secany releases and see the differences.

I read in some other Singapore forums that some users could get a downgrade at SSC

I can't understand why a member who registered 3 years ago but still have such kind of question. The 6.1 ROM can be found in this forum and you can flash back to any available version by yourself.

The flash procedure is available in pinned thread. Don't you think DIY is more funny?:D

hmmm...doesn't seemed like it's titanium for my case...previously had many things installed and uninstalled and yday my batt can't even last 12hrs! :D i was using spb shell as well...

After hard reset last nite...using titanium whole of today and batt life is 60% after 12hrs...pretty alright i feel...but the memory RAM just keeps going down...soft reset will give me 68mb...aft using the whole day it'll be left with 40mb...dunno where it goes... :(

Just a thought guys... if the cache is set to "Auto" which is the Samsung default, isn't it possible that the cache is in fact using all the free RAM, and would (ideally) release it to real programs if they need it?

Hi John, how did you arrive at the menu for the "Auto" cache setting?

because a member that signed up three years ago, has read various forums and the only way that people have downgraded was going to the samsung service centre in signapore which is kind of hard when i am in canada :D

Many people reported downgrading to 6.1 trough Octans normally.

Hi,

I don't know WM6.5 on other devices ... Is that the same ?

About our O², I'm asking myself about 3 softs in the start menu (opened on start up)

1 - "Main Menu" => Sorry I forget the exact name, This is the first thing I do : remove and "Kill" this one.

2 - CHomeManager.lnk => I do not use CHOME => KILL and win some octets !

3 - "ScreenCapture.lnk" : It seams to be used by the task switcher.

Maybe this one could be the guilty ? Could explain why RAM drop when using but not when we sleeping !

I've just removed it and win 2.4MB, after reboot (kill with TaskManager is not enough)

Right now, I have (after reboot) 53.18MB (because i'm using Phone extension and SPB MS)... I will see after one day using ....

So, what is this all about? I don't understand and can not understand.

There are dozen of discussions about memory leak !

So, you can easily make this experience :

  1. Restart your O²
  2. Check the RAM (around 50Mo)
  3. If you have 5 mn, look at this mermory, and you can see leaking Mo by Mo ....
  4. use your phone as usual
  5. at the end of the day, close all applications, then check your memory : 30Mo ????
  6. Go sleeping, Phone in sleep mode too .... memory down again !
  7. This is not from IK5, but from the all WM6.5 .
I was wrong with "ScreenCapture.lnk". It is not guilty ! Same without it.

But, "FreeUp Ram" (from SKTOOL) give you back your memory..

EDIT : This is very crazy, but maybe no importance ?

Has anyone tried a memory cleanup utility like this http://www.touchprofreeware.com/2009/04/so...emory-leak.html. Might not fix the root cause of the problem but might be a workaround.

I wonder if users of HTC devices that install winmo 6.5 also experience decreasing available memory with a clean install and nothing else running.

I tried it, seems nice but not so much different or better than SKtools or similar apps

I do not think there is memory leak problem, because resco sistem info shows always stable values ( mine nearly 65 mb ) I guess windows free ram detector can not detect free memory correctly

Hi! When I run Opera and Google maps at the same time, usually on of them just quits. That's rarely happened on wm6.1. Strange, but very annoying.

After some tests

I think that the lock screen of default wm6.5 would drain the RAM eventually from 80 to 50mb which I need to do softreset to recover it (with IK5 TF3D ROM)

try to disable the lock screen and you will have a relatively stable RAM size with about 66~76mb upon continuous usage with multitasking.

but one significant change from 6.1 to 6.5 is the increase of battery drain. the battery drops from 90% to 80% in 5 hours standby time for 6.5 whereas only ~3% was used for the same period of standby with 6.1...
