Guest dwallersv Posted November 22, 2009 Report Posted November 22, 2009 Over in the i9x0 forum, there's a posting from an engadget article rumoring a Dec 2 intro of the O2 on Verizon. It looks like solid info, complete with all the internal communications package for Verizon reps. In particular, there is this page from the launch materials: While clearly Verizon has had Samsung alter the cosmetic design a bit (most obvious the cube button has been changed to a different shape), this notation on the back of stereo speakers, pointing to two locations on the back, is very interesting (and exciting!). Anyone know anything about this outside this material? Is there any independent info/confirmation that the Verizon O2.1 (my made-up designation) has a major design difference, and feature addition, like this? I sure hope so. I expect to have my VZW O2 on 12/02, so I'll be able to report back then. Man, I feel like I'm 10 again, waiting for Christmas.
Guest kdkinc Posted November 22, 2009 Report Posted November 22, 2009 I sort of feel the same as you... I really need a new desktop with win7 but I get more enjoyment from my Omnia, I almost want to bust my contract and upgrade. (key word almost :) ) Hope all works well for you and the o2
Guest Yohng Posted November 22, 2009 Report Posted November 22, 2009 (edited) Definitively, your Omnia II is a fake ! Sorry, I have a doubt ! Edited November 22, 2009 by Yohng
Guest kdkinc Posted November 22, 2009 Report Posted November 22, 2009 Definitively, your Omnia II is a fake ! Nothing is same as Real one ! ITS GOT TO BE REAL!!!! I read it on the internet :) :D
Guest Uboy Posted November 22, 2009 Report Posted November 22, 2009 Well looking in the back of mine...it's not just the extra speaker on the one in your picture, but the camera module, micro sd card and the sim card would all have to be moved to fit in that speaker in that location, so for me there is a doubt. However before I got my Omnia ii I'm sure I read somewhere that it was to have a set of stereo speakers, maybe it is a early prototype that the picture is of, that was modified before full production.
Guest dwallersv Posted November 22, 2009 Report Posted November 22, 2009 Looks like it's real -- called VZW and they confirmed the lauch package, and launch date. Some other nice changes from the i8000: Stereo speakers, externally accessible card slot on the side of the unit, Swype keyboard technology (awesome!), and a built-in stylus!!!! Product# is SCHi920, not i8000. Other than that, the rest of the specs seems to be about the same.
Guest Yohng Posted November 23, 2009 Report Posted November 23, 2009 ref : Verizon's Samsung Omnia II launching December 2 for $200 It may no longer be the first to launch in North America (that distinct honor now belongs to Bell), but we can finally say with some confidence that Verizon's version of the Samsung Omnia II isn't that far off. No, seriously: we've managed to get a peek at the carrier's launch pack for the phone, and the big details here are that it'll be launching in all channels (meaning telesales, online, and in-store) on December 2 for $199.99 on contract after a $100 mail-in rebate. That pricing puts it solidly in the upper echelon of Verizon's offerings these days, yes -- but when you consider that it's got a 3.7-inch WVGA AMOLED display, 8GB of internal storage plus microSD expansion, 5 megapixel cam, and WinMo 6.5 Professional (allaying earlier concerns that 6.1 would be on shipping units), we think they can justify the outlay. Especially if you can resist the pull of a Droid Eris for a Benjamin cheaper once you set foot in the store, of course. So, it could be a clone ?
Guest chokia Posted November 24, 2009 Report Posted November 24, 2009 Stereo speakers but without front cam for video call and only single LEDlight flash. thats a lot to trade off.
Guest tacchan23 Posted November 24, 2009 Report Posted November 24, 2009 Here some more intersting differences: http://www.careace.net/2009/11/23/verizon-...ii-vs-omnia-ii/ The new input method seems intersting too: http://www.careace.net/2009/11/23/omnia-ii...-iphone-typing/

Maybe 3.8" instead of 3.7" screen.
