Hi

My i8000 just just freezes after 'updating' (searching for audio/video) on the media player. It will search for files, tell me how many files found, then stop. I cannot press any other touch buttons. I have to use the task switcher to close the program. WMP can update fine. But it the UI is ugly. The headings require a touch stylus, its that small. (On a side not, I can't change WMP skins either. Doesn't read them, so I'm stuck with the disappointing 'classic blue' interface).

Can anyone help? I've reformated so many times (using the 4-button press hard reset method). Is this a normal bug with program?

I just got the phone a few days ago. pre-installed with Windows 6.5 rom. I knew windows was buggy, but i was expecting a fairly functional product.

This is the first time I hear about this problem... I would suggest a Hard Reset but you tried it already :D

Maybe it would be worth to show it at a Samsung service center? other option may be flash to a nw ROM

I have an I920 and it freezes when trying to update files and I don't even have any on my storage card. Just whatever came on the device. It worked for a few days and then just freezes when updating files now. Where does it store its file list? Maybe it is corrupted, anyone know?

Where does it save its play list files and library files, I want to delete them and see if that fixes the problem

I have a similar problem to this. This is what I have found so far. I put about 1700 tracks onto my 16GB microSD and updated touchplayers library, it did crash a couple of times and was slow to update but a soft reset cure the problem. This weekend I added about another 800 tracks. When I update now it gets to about 2200 tracks added then just freezes and requires a reset (well it can be switched off but it won't power on again) via battery removal.

I am theorising it is to do with the format or type of some of the tracks I have added so will try and prove this over the next few days.

Carl.

Hi, I have the same problem too... and I am OK now for this Samsung Media Player.

I have found, when I install "pRSSReader" in "My Storage" many cache files cause the Samsung media player to FREEZE, after I delete these cache files, all function is OK.

So maybe you need to clean some files on "My Storage" or "Storage card". ^.^

This is how Media Player update function work (at least to my understanding),

1. When press the Search button on update function, it will first scan all memlory space for all supported format audio and video files.

2. Once complete scanning all memory space with lots of files found, it will start to add all supported format A/V files onto Media Player Library.

3. During large amount of files adding, Media Player may stop number counting at certain number when it found a directory with large amount of A/V files. It will only continue the number counting after it passes those large amount A/V files directory. During this number counting pause, it may look like the Media Player has stop responding, but if you look closer, you'll notices the blue color horizontal bar actually still increasing at slow increment speed toward the right side of screen.

So wilsmile, probably you'd saw the above No.3 situation that make you think Media Player stop responding.

Others situation lead to your problem might also due to,

1. You had formatted the My Storage or Storage Card space with PC/Laptop using FAT32 with different cluster size that Omnia-2 normally deal with.

Solution, re-format My Storage or Storage Card with Omnia-2 and then re-copy those A/V files back to these 2 memory space.

2. Too many small cache files created by programs like pRSSReader on your phone, like what bro pching3 mentioned.

Solution, delete all small cahe files.

3. Your had a very slow speed memory card. Sometime I've found that some Kingston Class4 MicroSD card are damn slow in file accessing and write speed.

Solution, change a memory card, must be other than Kingston brand, just in case it was the actual root cause to your problem.
