Guest caldo Posted November 27, 2009 Report Posted November 27, 2009 (edited) Hi! I' am trying from yesterday to flash K5 or K2 roms but without success. Tried 3 octans versions, 2.11, 2.0, 1.9.. I put the EBoot archive, the MultiCSC, the MoviNAND and the phone, it detects, soft reset, starting downloading, flashing all the other archves except MST, which is procceding with the downloading, but finally stucks on the 83% and I get the message: [FAIL] read error from file! and stays there, with the downloading mode on the device screen. In the K2 rom, I get the same error message on the 25% of the MST download. Im' connected with the device from yesterday, I do not disconnect and not closing the computer. Please, can someone provide me with a solution? I do not know what to do!! Thank you in advance.. Edited November 27, 2009 by caldo

Guest caldo Posted November 27, 2009 Report Posted November 27, 2009 Yes, I have installed the driver... Eboot and phone part are not recoverable, you mean that the device will brick? Should I disconnect or not?

If you failed with IK5 at 83%, how did you start flashing your ROM with IK2 without interrupting the process of the 1st unfinished one!? Did you un-plug (yeah, you said no), so you just started again by opening another Octans and ROM, then detect, download and flash!? I'm not quiet sure if this method was ok or better to say, safe!? maybe bro... you need disconect your device as you said it plug to your PC from yesterday but you have risk to brick your device Somewhere in this forum, I read that someone else had a very same problem and after few Q&A, we found out that he was getting error since he had his phone connected to PC via USB hub instead of plug in it directly to back of PC, then he said he had managed to flash his O2 successfully after a direct USb connection So, make sure you are not using any USB extension cable/ USB hub, etc... but a direct connection to your PC you might also want to avoid start flashing your O2 by using removable storage (CD ROM/DVD ROM/ Mass Storage devices/ external devices/ USB Flash Memory) as source of your ROM, try it thru your HardDisk, just a thought! Guest caldo Posted November 28, 2009 Report Posted November 28, 2009 (edited) Unfortunatelly, the device was connected on a HUB... Perhaps there was the problem. Now, I have disconnect the device, I connected it directly to PC, Tried to flash J9 by sorg (with PDA ver. - no MST - ), but no success. It downloads Eboot, disconnects, reconnect, downloading PDA img to RAM, Writing PDA img to FLASH, Downloading PDA img to RAM, Writing PDA img to FLASH, all these OK, and FINALLY -> [FAIL] PDA ckecksum!! I do not know what to do!! Perhaps, it is a flash memory problem? Edited November 28, 2009 by caldo

Guest caldo Posted November 28, 2009 Report Posted November 28, 2009 (edited) Yes, I flashed the PDA part (nb0) of course, with the Eboot part. Edited November 28, 2009 by caldo
Guest caldo Posted November 29, 2009 Report Posted November 29, 2009 Trying to flash H5, same problem, no success... The device connects to PC only in download mode when I run OCTANS -> detect. The PDA screen is stuck on: three icons - pda - ! - PC Should I go to Samsung service? My device is from Germany I think or from UK, and as I know for the Greek Samsung service (here in Greece) they do not cover warranty for service devices that they are not purchased from Greece. So, I have to send it to the Germany or UK Samsung service... Do you think the problem is covered by the warranty or not? Or purhaps the is a way to save the device in this condition it is now? Thank you

Thank you In your case, it doesn't look good, Octans can't see or identify the connection to your phone. Try a hard reset without the phone connected to PC, see the result, if it doesn't reboot, there maybe some sort of corruption in the bootloader. If all this fails, it may need to go a service centre.

Try a hard reset without the phone connected to PC, see the result, if it doesn't reboot, there maybe some sort of corruption in the bootloader. If all this fails, it may need to go a service centre. Only octans can see the device. If I connect it without opening octans and press "detect", the device seems to connect and disconnect repeatedly, without stopping. I can not do hard reset, for the reason that when I insert the battery, it boots automaticaly with the logo "OMNIA II" and turns to the screen with the three little icons: mobile - ! - PC. I cannot do hard reset then also. Tried to soft reset and immediatelly do hard reset before the screen with the icons appear, but no luck. The device stays in the three icons screen as above. When I flash any rom, the Eboot archive installs ok. The problem is to the MST or PDA archive, the installation never ends normally, as I mentioned in above posts.
Guest tacchan23 Posted November 29, 2009 Report Posted November 29, 2009 You get [FAIL] PDA ckecksum!! every time you try? The only time it happened to me, I actually had corrupted ROM files. I downloaded them again and it worked fine.
Guest caldo Posted November 29, 2009 Report Posted November 29, 2009 (edited) I wish, I wish, I wish that is the problem. I've already downloaded K5, K2, J9, J9 by Sorg, H5, K5 cooked, none of them can be installed! Could be so much misfortune?? I'll try to download again H5 and see what happens. I've got [FAIL] PDA checksum when I tried to install H5 and J9 while writing MST archive, and I've got [FAIL] read error from file! when I tried to install K5, K2... after the procedure "Writing PDA Image to FLASH" Edited November 29, 2009 by caldo
Guest tacchan23 Posted November 29, 2009 Report Posted November 29, 2009 Maybe you could try on another PC/laptop or ask a friend to download the files for you? just to try everything...
Guest caldo Posted November 29, 2009 Report Posted November 29, 2009 (edited) Thank you for your interest and your suggestions. I am trying now in an other PC, downloading again the H5 rom... Edited November 29, 2009 by caldo

Guest taril Posted November 29, 2009 Report Posted November 29, 2009 Yes, I flashed the PDA part (nb0) of course, with the Eboot part. Sorry! I mean ONLY the PDA part, and never the eboot and phone and csc part!

Guest caldo Posted November 29, 2009 Report Posted November 29, 2009 (edited) My friends, finally, my device was saved! A very precious friend called ganjbass in the greek forum OMNIACS: http://omniacs.net, helped me and my device recovered. The solution was: From OCTANS, we deleted the PDA version of a previous installed rom, so we started flashing again with "clean" PDA software. The first flash did not succeed (J9), it FAILED again. After this, I flashed H5 (which my device had from the beginning) all the archives (Eboot, CSC, MST, Phone) and THE JOB DONE! Now, I have my device again! Thank you all for your suggestions and your help! Edited November 29, 2009 by caldo
Guest iWiNMo Posted November 30, 2009 Report Posted November 30, 2009 Glad to hear that you have managed to save your O2! And it was nice that you shared the solution for other user who might encounter the same problem. :D

Guest monyozt Posted November 30, 2009 Report Posted November 30, 2009 Honestly I don't understand what you exactly did to succesfully flash your phone? me 2. i don't get that he say delete prev PDA version...
Guest iWiNMo Posted November 30, 2009 Report Posted November 30, 2009 me 2. i don't get that he say delete prev PDA version... Maybe he is referring to "Erase Nv PDA" option and had it selected! :D
Guest caldo Posted November 30, 2009 Report Posted November 30, 2009 Maybe he is referring to "Erase Nv PDA" option and had it selected! :D Yes, this is what I mean. I selected "Erase Nv PDA" and cleaned up the probably corrupted or not well downloaded (I don't know what) PDA - MST archive. After this erase, when the PDA booted, I had a blue screen and it turned off. Only OCTANS could see the device, by "detect" and soft reset and then turned to download mode. Then, I flashed J9 with no success, but after J9, I flashed H5 with all the archives, as I mentioned before, and the Job Done!
