Guest obekt Posted November 28, 2009 Report Posted November 28, 2009 (edited) Hi guys, my question is a little more and different than the topic's title : I bought my Omnia II in Bulgaria - it was with wm6.1. The first thing to do was to search for a firmware or rom upgrade. So I ended up to my.samsungmobile.com (it is Samsung Mobile Malaysia). There was a program New PC Studio version 1.4.0 IK1 that upgraded my phone to wm6.5 and now it looks like this : PDA: I8000NXXIJ9 CSC: I8000XSOIJ2 PHONE: I8000DXIJ1 1. I see the phone version is DX meaning Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Vietnam. Does it means the phone was manifactured there or this can be changed by the upgrade I have done ? (under the battery it says made in Korea). 2. Can I put some European ROMs in case the phone is really made in the regiones listed in my previous post, can I break it with some inappropriate ROM / firmware ? 3. What is the difference between PDA, CSC versions and most generally I have read most of the topics here and wonder why firmware and ROM are separated when it comes to upgrading or installing? Isn't it something that comes in a bundle together ? 4. Are there other versions of NPS that depend on the country you want to use the phone in and upgrade the appropriate version of the phone software or it is samsung's software used no matter of the phone version and country of origin. I am just afraid if I installed something wrong. Thank you very much for your answers. I had the HTC Diamond before and it was much easiear to change firmwares and so on. I had the HTC Diamond before and it was much easiear to change firmwares and so on. 1.It can be change by the upgrade you have done 2.flashing a phone is always risky even using the official tools. But you can flash european pda part only if you don't flash evoot , phone, you can normally flash again. 3. there is 4 parts in omnia 2 Eboot, PDA,CSC,Phone if you come from HTC device we can compare Eboot=SPL, PDA=Firmware/rom, CSC are personlisation of the windows mobile depending of language country operator.() does not exist in HTC device because you can not change the language of a rom). Phone part is still the phone firmware. Rom/ firmware difference. normally a rom is a hardware part.Your firmware is strored inside a rom. so by extension people use rom/firmware as about the same things. 4. There is several version of nps but it's not country dependant but the choice of the country when you isntall is important because it will set up on which server you will connect to do the update. for the upgrade nps is reading you csc file to know where your phone come from.So normally it will keep an equivalent version of your csc. HTC is not easier it's just that developpers are more use to it because htc is keeping more or less the same structure for their phone update. thos answer are just my understanding i could have mae mistalkes.
