It may have something to do with ROM flashing. There is info about it in this post:

Omnia 2 tweaks, Rom flash

Not flashing eboot could cause some trouble.

Hope it helps.

Actually I flash with the eboot.

maybe you could try to push without "hold"? just to see if there's any difference?

There has been similar issues with this on other devices over the years, do you use a password to unlock normally as this has sometimes been linked to the problem?

ROM updates can sometimes cure this, my old HTC Wizard used to have this problem all the time.

Also are you trying a soft reset correctly and not using the hole as described wrongly in the manual?

Yes, I had this trouble one time (only one time) !

  • ROM IK5 (EBOOT+PDA+PHONE +CSC XEF)
  • Display Light = AUTO
  • BlueTooth activated
  • Touchplayer Play songs thru BT
  • Incomming call thru BT
  • End of incomming call
  • Then impossible to wake up the phone !

Due to very old trouble on my previous Omnia the First, with ROM HH4, same things occured and many people was suspected backlight in auto !

So i've set backlight and remove "auto", and i never have this trouble again !

Was it a coincidence ? I don't know !

This has happened to me as well when I had my WiFi "ON" and waking the phone could take time twice as usual!

I did before. Even tried pressing the call and hang up button, camera etc all no effect.

I never use password at all. I did not poke the wrong hole lol. I know about that manual error.

I wasn't using BT at all. Nothing was running except the activesync which is always running by default

This was not my case. In fact when I had wifi on, the time took was normal.

Are you talking about omnia I OR II

I'm talking about Omnia II !

But, I had this trouble with Omnia I, by the past with old ROM !

Due to too many report of this bug (on Omnia I), we finaly found that if we've removed this auto adjustment, we fixe the default (not definitly but it was a step).

For Omnia I, it was very anoying .... at least every days !

Actualy, the tests (on Omnia I) gave : if you ave BT or WiFi ON, with auto adjust light, you can not wake up the phone.

That's why I compare this trouble to the old one !

But this is only suspicious, this is too early to make conclusion, we need more tests, from more people (such we've done for i900).

This trouble is too erratic to conclude quickly !

I have this problem on my Omnia II. I returned it for another unit but got the same issue after a few day of usage. Every time I use Opera and turn of the screen, a reset was required to turn on the smartphone. The problem got worse day after day to the point I need to do a reset every time the phone goes to standby mode. The AMOLED display sometime looks weird (like displaying a low resolution image on a high resolution screen) when this happen. Today I installed some new software and the problem disappeared. The bad thing now is my internal 16G storage has disappear also. So maybe it is related to the internal 16G storage. I will return my defective unit and get a new one. Then I'll install everything in the main storage to see if the problem persist.
