Does anybody know what chipset is used for the FM radio or can anybody find out?

One of the features that I would reaaaallly like on this device is free TMC in my nav program. I know that OmniaTMC will definitely not work ( I needed a master reset after installation :D ) and the developer of OmniaTMC went off to HTC and XDA I believe.

Has anybody looked at the FM tuner API? Does it also include RDS decoding etc?

Thanks in advance

FMRadio in your i8000 - SI4709

The Si 4709 has RDS capability and also the system DLLs ( both the Samsung SDK and the fmradio.dll) take care to the very base (name,ID,type and alt.frq) RDS information. But here stops the RDS decoding. Reading the i900 TMC topic shows that at least the structure of the i900 and the i8000 fmradio.dll are the same, both write a registry entries for the RDS info and there is IOCTL's to get/set the chip registers, etc. So in the case we can know how the i900 version implemented, it will be a very easy task. Without that a pain, because the decoded assembly is large and unreadable.

OK, thanks for the info! Very useful. Maybe we could ask the original author of OmniaTMC. Maybe he is the same guy as the person behind HyperGPS at XDA (beemerTPPC <-> Beamrider).
