CAB for Samsung Today?

I have an Omnia II, and would really like to use the "Samsung Today" (i.e. Professional Home Screen) from the Omnia Pro. Could anyone make a cab of this, or tell me how to extract and cab the file from the ROM dump?

Try this, i don't know if it works! but you can try:

  1. Download and extract the attached zip file.
  2. Copy files to phone
  3. Copy TodayContainer.dll to \windows\
  4. Add Samsung Today.reg to register (just run on phone)
  5. Softreset the phone
  6. Go to settings -> today -> items and only select "Samsung Today"

It didnt work for me. Samsung today shows up at "items on today" but it doesn't load anything when you select it.

Thanks for trying though.

Many thanks!

I thing TodayContainer.dll.0407.mui (for me, for others the mui with other language-code) is missing.

Don´t know if there is a TodayContainer.swf too.

No go on the CDMA SCH-i920 Omnia II either :D

I guess there are some more files. Dont´t know, cause no idea how to extract files from rom, but widgetplus has a lot of subfolders in windows-folder.

If I know how, i would extract it by myself, but winhex makes me realy crazy. Did anybody knows about a relative simple howto extract files from nb0/mst roms ?

from a original 6.5 ROM

Well, I know it's not a 6.1/6.5 issue then. Is there a tutorial somehwere on how to extract things from a ROM? I'm trying to figure out what we OII users need to use this.

maybe you'll ask one of the cookers around here (namely sorg or rfd). they sure know how to extract files, but maybe they have not enough time to read all threads here and this thread might be one of these... ;)

it would be great to have the omnia pro ui on the omnia 2.

Can you let me know what you did to pull those files out of the ROM dump? I think it's on the right track, but it looks like there is some content missing from another folder. I want to look through the dump myself. Thanks in advance!

I pulled those files from the phone, not from a dumped ROM.

Ah, gotcha. Would you please mind looking in the following folders to see if there's anything associated that was missed:

\Application Data

\Program Files

\Windows

I ask because I know for the Widget Plus UI, there are widget folders in those three locations.
