Guest hangman11 Posted December 8, 2009 Report Posted December 8, 2009 Hey guys, many of us experience battery drains using omnia 2 either on the official or custom roms, especially people who engage in heavy internet uses.some of you might heard of WMlonglife by chainfire, it could be found here WM Long life by chainfire it is said to work for the i8000, however its not auto changing for my case, followed all the instructions in setting it up but still no results :D any help would be greatly appreciated =)
Guest costipl Posted December 8, 2009 Report Posted December 8, 2009 It works for me - installed it, configured as I wanted (which amounted to changing just one option, the default setting are IMHO great), and then did a soft reset twice - it did not kick in after the first one, but started working after the second one. Note that it is best to leave about a minute between the resets. It's best to detect whether it's working if you're in range of a 3G network - if your phone doesn't switch to 3G on its own then probably WmLonglife is working. To confirm that, try running one of the whitelisted apps (Opera is best IMHO) and see if you get a notification from WMLonglife about switching to 3G - if you do, then all's fine and well :D And yes, the app does help a lot with battery life.
Guest hangman11 Posted December 8, 2009 Report Posted December 8, 2009 thanks for your confirmation that it work.yes, it did worked in changing from 3G to 2G when i lock my screen, however it doesn't revert back to 3G when i'm running IE, resulting in my having to change it manually via the band switcher ;/ anyone experiencing this problem too?

FYI for any CDMA omnia 2 users, I think chain said it didn't support band switching yet but he's working on it. Anyways, it's such a cool app, no? Chainfire is teh m4n!
Guest hangman11 Posted December 9, 2009 Report Posted December 9, 2009 oh thanks for the info bro.but just to clarify, isnt omnia 2 base on singapore using gsm chip?
Guest Chainfire Posted December 9, 2009 Report Posted December 9, 2009 WMLongLife still needs some heavy work to be really useable. The tech behind it is much more complicated than you would think. I have tested it on my GSM I8000 and it mostly works, but the CDMA version is not supported yet.

Guest Chainfire Posted December 9, 2009 Report Posted December 9, 2009 (edited) Please make sure you have the correct radio type ("Samsung") and GSM band selected ! Not sure if that is the problem, but it might be. Anyways, discussion about this, bug reports, etc, should go into the thread on XDA. I don't normally handle threads for the same program on two forums. And as this tool is not Omnia specific and mostly used on HTC's, the "main thread" is on XDA. Edited December 9, 2009 by Chainfire
Guest hangman11 Posted December 9, 2009 Report Posted December 9, 2009 yes i did made sure that radio type was "Samsung" GSM.alright bro, will get back to XDA thread once i flashed into the new ultra lite by RFD based on L2 releasing later, probably will give it another try ;) thanks once again bro!
