As described by zuccster:

- In Settings ... -> APNs, setup a O2 postpay MMS APN as described here. BUT, ignore point 18. Leave the APN type empty. Once complete, go back into APNs and select the dot next to this APN

As described by zuccster:

OK APN set up manually as per instructions - internet straight back on....still no MMS !! Ive treid via the default messaging client and ChompSMS just in case there was any issues specifically with the chomp client.

The only thing I noticed was that on the Galaxy instructions it doesnt refer to an "MNC" value. Mine defaults to 10 on a new APN. Should this be left at 10 or changed to "Not Set" ?

Leave it at 10.

Can you repost your telephony.db?

i'm getting concerned that if i try on eof these o2 flavoured files i may break my voda mms!

as it is i have the no 2g/3g version that sometimes works on voda.

which is the latest one i could use on Voda please guys?

Is there an easy way to execute the script like a widget/shortcut type thing?

Leave it for the moment until I get it working for jlgmax for o2. There is currently no easy way to execute the script.

Just run the script.

Just run the script.

OK just ran the script and in terminal the o2 string with the 23430 / 234 / 30 values and the "1" at the end (to indicate it is the default) is not at the bottom of the list.

There is another very similiar o2 string with the values 234 / 234 / 10 which appears below it.

MMS is still refusing to send. However, my internet connection hasnt been lost this time.

Previously I only had one APN - the o2 pay monthly one which I created manually. Having checked the APN screen I now have 2 listed - T Mobile UK (general.t-mobile.co.uk) and o2 pay monthly, which is selected with the green dot.

Latest telephony.db attached.

Thanks again.

No, don't use that file.

I don't think Huawei will acknowledge an MMS problem because unless you've unlocked your phone, there is no problem. They made the phone for T-Mobile, and for their customers MMS works fine.

i hadn't thought of that - re the only for tmobile aspect. i was hoping they might look into it at least!

Im sure they already have the answer. Im pretty sure that other android devices dont exhibit the same behaviour when using MMS on carriers other than the handset's original mobile network.

Sounds like some kind of additional "MMS lockdown" customisation which T Mob have requested from Huawei. Id therefore be quite surprised if they provided us with details of how to bypass it.

Hmmm, your telephony.db file seems like it should work now.

Can you turn your phone off and then on again and tell me what if the apns have changed? Then try to send an MMS.

If that doesn't work take then battery out and reboot the phone. Try to send an MMS. Let me know if the apns have changed.

Then send me the telephony.db

Thanks.

At least its looking right now then !

OK - rebooted phone...APNs unchanged on list from previous post. Tried sending an MMS - network activity both directions but MMS message doesnt send. Internet working fine.

Took battery out, rebooted, APNs unchanged from previously. Tried sending MMS - network activity in both directions, but the MMS still doesnt send (tried in both default messaging app and ChompSMS).

here's the reply in full fwiw!:

Hi

Thanks for your email.

The MMS function had passed strict test and should can work.

Do you have any questions when use it?

Besides, We have not plan to update the rom 1.6 and we will direct update the rom to 2.0 and 2.1.

The ROM 2.0 will be released before April on actual schedule.

But at the same time the version need also get T-Mobile's approved. So we think you will can get the information from T-Mobile website when the new firmware released. Many thanks.

Best regards!

@quincy456, that reply sounds quite promising regarding the update :) But I wonder if you politely emailed them the overall details of this problem, whether their tech department could give at least a possible cause or the root of this problem?

@jlgmax, what rom are you using on your phone, custom or not? Could you upload your apns-conf.xml file that is found under system/etc/ using your file explorer, it should help show why your telephony.db is so different

Hi there,

Im running Modaco 1.7 vanilla. I did a titanium backup restore after I installed it to get my apps/settings back - not sure if that will have affected anything ?

apns-conf.xml attached.

Silly question - couldnt you just upload your versions of the apns-conf.xml and telephony.db and Ill just copy them onto my phone ?

Yea that was the plan lol. Just wanted to see if yours was any different, but it's how it should be if not modified. I've edited mine so download it and replace yours with then follow these instructions;

-Go to settings/wireless/mobile/apns and press menu, then click on reset to default. You should now have 4 o2 settings.

-Optional:Reboot the phone, shouldn't need to but up to u.

-In APNs in settings select the one called O2 Pay Monthly MMS so it has green dot next to it.

-Use le_lutin's 1st script from page.7 post.123 in this thread. You should see the o2 setting in the terminal with current as 1 at the last carrier.

Note: Don't return to the apn settings!

-Now try send/receive an mms n let us know? or if there was a problem along the way...

Hiya,

Ive replaced the file and reset to default, the 4 o2 APNs have appeared, and "o2 UK" is currently the default with the green dot. When I click on the "o2 Pay Monthly MMS" to set it as default, it opens the APN and displays the settings, but when I press back, the "o2 UK" APN is still selected as default !

I dont want to go to the next step until Ive got the correct "o2 Pay Monthly MMS" set successfully as default - any ideas ?!

Thanks again.

PS just to add, Ive tried pressing "Save" rather than "back" when in the "o2 MMS Pay Monthly" APN screen and it still doesnt set to default.

Don't open it, just carefully click on the circle on the right n it should go green without actually opening the apn

WOO HOO !!!! Just sent my first MMS from my Pulse - never thought it was going to work !!!!

Receiving is working fine too !

I think ChompSMS has got a bit confused over the last couple of days because its now displaying the same image file regardless of which image I send or receive ! But when I save the image to SD card the correct image is displayed....very strange ! However the default android messaging app is working fine so Im a very happy chappy !!

Thanks so much to you and le_lutin for all your efforts - hope this little exercise may prove helpful in developing a "one apk fixes all" type solution for other people !

PS - should I just never open the APN screen ever again ?!
