Hi everybody I'm new to the Android platform and I would like to understand more of what is going on.

I installed today on my new pulse the MCR 1.0 based on u8230 and then applied the MCK 1.1 on top of that.

Basically I put the phone in bootloader mode, installed superboot, rebooted the phone and I had the quickboot icons inside. Then I entered again bootloader mode and installer the recovery image. then rebooted and lauched quickboot, entereb the recovery image, did a nandroid backup which I then saved to my pc and then applied the MCR 1.0. after that I applied the MCK 1.1 and then rebooted. Everything works nice but I just have a couple of questions:

1- I guess that the recovery image and superboot install themselves in the main memory (not sd card), right? then I did the nandroid backup, therefore if I recover the phone from the nandroid backup, superboot and the recovery image will still be there. doesn't this pose a problem in the case I have to bring back the phone for support? I guess they can see it has been rooted etc and that violates the warranty...

2- I did not partition the sd card or did anything, should I have done that? and how? (i'm using a mac...)

3- how does a2sd work? if I installed some app now and the sd card is not partitioned properly I guess they are still being installed in the ram. if I partition the sd card properly, will a2sd recognize that automatically and "move the app" or should I disintall them and reinstall them again in order to get them in the sd card?

4- how do I understand in an easy way how much free ram I have? I installed one app from the market in order to do so but it forecs me to put it as a widget... however it tells me I have 30mb of free ram after booting the phone, isn't that a little low? I've read of ppl having from 75mb to 100mb after installing this rom...

thanks to everybody

1. you can put in the original t-mo rom floating around here somewhere...and the flash superboot and the recovery images to be blank again...leaving no traces of hacks

2. you can partition the card from the newest (1.5.x) recovery mode

3. apps should get moved automatically once an ext partition is found on the SD card

4. typing 'free' in the terminal will show you how much memory you have

1. "and the flash superboot and the recovery images to be blank again" what do u mean by that? If I flash the original rom from recovery, what should I do next to eliminate the superboot and recovery images from the phone?

4. which terminal do u mean? I couldn't find any app in the market which allows me to run commands into a shell...

the answer is in the first post of the recovery page:

http://android.modaco.com/content/t-mobile...on-your-device/

"enter recovery by doing either 'adb reboot recovery' or by installing 'Quick Boot'"

root access might be required:

sorry, I must be very inexperienced but still don't get it completely. to flash a new image I need to enter the recovery mode and flash update.zip

then what am I supposed to do to remove the traces of superboot and the recovery image?

tks for your replies..

I have done what you said two steps

But I do not know how to start recovery mode !

Which buttons I need to hold on when The device is turned off?

(tap the powerbutton while holding the 'Volume Down' and 'End (Red)' keys is go to bootloader mode not recovery mode)

I need go to recovery mode to update my phone.

Thank you very much
