Guest Larion Posted December 16, 2009 Report Posted December 16, 2009 (edited) Updated the cab file. Just in case if anybody interested to test this app, that I put together for Omnia 2. It automatically adjusts the backlight. I was not happy with the default autobacklight that comes with Omnia cause it has only three backlight levels. This app will query the light sensor for the max and min illuminance and then start adjusting the backlight level from 1 to 15. I have tested it only on Samsung Omnia i920 for Verizon, so am not sure if it works on Omnia 2. Let me know if it works or does not work for you. After you install you should either soft reset or power recycle your phone. Larik Edited December 20, 2009 by Larion

Disabled my S2U2 and set the brightness (under Settings> display&Light) back to Auto (from High) but everything seemed same to me! Didn't find any shortcut for it, if there is any, to run so I assume it's been integrated to previous device-settings! What would be the differences if it's i8000 compatible and has been installed correctly!? What should I be expecting after installation of this app!? P.S.: Installed it on Device memory and I'm running RDF's Ultra Light ROM (IK5-Lite) Edited December 16, 2009 by iWiNMo
Guest yshaikh01 Posted December 16, 2009 Report Posted December 16, 2009 Tried it on my Omnia II Stock II9 WM6.5 ROM and it adjusts the backlight but goes up and down every few seconds.
Guest NewForce Posted December 16, 2009 Report Posted December 16, 2009 My Omnia-2 i8000 already came with Auto adjust screen brightness control interface. So far I'm very happy with it as it does help to extend my phone standby time by a lot. Anyway, still thanks for your app.
Guest iWiNMo Posted December 16, 2009 Report Posted December 16, 2009 some feedback! Activated my S2U2 again and set back the brightness to high (disabled Auto adjustment of course) which were my setting prior to installing this CAB, now after 2 seconds, it goes to auto adjustment mode, while the "Auto Adjustment" option is still left un-cheked! Headed back to setting and the brightness was at its minimum level and Auto option OFF!, I did set it back to maximum level and returned to main page and after two seconds, same again and no matter what you touch or execute (incoming call, text,...) still in dim mode! I guess it totally sets your device brightness to its lowest level with no option to control those 15-aforementioned-levels. I won't delete it yet to have the chance to play with it a bit more.

P.S.: Installed it on Device memory and I'm running RDF's Ultra Light ROM (IK5-Lite) Thanks for your feedback! It adds a link file in Windows\StartUp folder and starts automatically after you restart your phone. During installation it disables the default autobacklight. On my phone it keeps backlight level mostly at 1 when I am indoors cause the ambient light does not exceed 600 lux, goes to 0 in pitch dark and brings it to the necessary level when it is needed. The default autobacklight keeps it at 1 when it is really dark, brings it to 7 indoors(which is too bright for me) and always jumps to 15 when outside, though I can live with 10. You mean that after you install it you can not see backlight adjusting itself when you put your phone under a bright lamp? Maybe Omnia2 has a different registry structure. Thanks a bunch for testing it on your phone.
Guest Larion Posted December 16, 2009 Report Posted December 16, 2009 Tried it on my Omnia II Stock II9 WM6.5 ROM and it adjusts the backlight but goes up and down every few seconds. Even when you are in the same room without ambient light changing? Thanks for testing it!
Guest yshaikh01 Posted December 16, 2009 Report Posted December 16, 2009 Even when you are in the same room without ambient light changing? Thanks for testing it! Yes, sitting at my desk and the backlight was going up and down.
Guest Larion Posted December 16, 2009 Report Posted December 16, 2009 Yes, sitting at my desk and the backlight was going up and down. The only reason I can come up is that my installation did not turn off your default autobacklight and it works at the same time as my app. You can try to disable you autobacklight in brightness settings and see if it solves that problem. Do you have registry editor installed? Thanks so much for your help!!!

Maybe its the lighting in our office ;) . Edited December 16, 2009 by yshaikh01
