Guest mamuco Posted December 17, 2009 Report Posted December 17, 2009 Got the Omnia i920 a week ago and tested it on a trip to Las Vegas with calls, email , pictures and video etc. I have a hard time adjusting to all the changes on the i920 coming from the 910. Most annoying is that many of the screen don't rotate, like the start menu, windows default menu, even IE , google maps, skyfire and I guess many more. Opera, e-mail and others rotate just fine. On the i910 all screen rotated pretty much without any problems or manual setting things up. I guess one can install all kinds of fixes and dll's and programs to make programs rotate, but its a lot of work for something that should come standard. Resco bubbles 1.41 didn't run either. The first program i tried to use after getting the device was My phone but it would start , gave me an system error, so had to download a copy from MS and install it on this brand new device in order to get it working. Pretty sad I thought. Also that the i920 doesnt use the standard titanium cpr is very strange. One shouldnt have to edit a file in the registry to get going out of the box. I did download a new splgin from this side and hero clock runs great, but again it should need manual input to enable panels in Titanium I think. The screen and visibility, touch response is all very good. Its speedy after disabling touchwiz and the like. SPB shell runs great and very smooth. But its very hard to navigate around and customize it easily due to the changes Samsung made in the file structure. So the software and samsung implementation leaves alot to be disired at compared to what they did on the i910. Or didnt do. Some of the Samsung menus like calendar etc look pretty good. The form factor is ok, when in my pocket it is a bit bothersome due to the uneven backplate with those to curved edges past the speakers. I know its better sound when you put it on the table like that but still a flat back would have been better. On my i910 I run Storms cooked rom and is great. Hopefully cooked version for the 920 will be available, but I am not so sure if I keep the device that long. Will give the Droid a try and see how it fares and maybe the Imagio. All I need for business is exchange support and to read offcie attachments pdf. Oh well we will see how it goes in the next few days, so far its just but not that great for me.
Guest bishop4142 Posted December 18, 2009 Report Posted December 18, 2009 The one annoyance I found is when you flip the phone to play a vid or a game you can easily press the home key by accident. This makes you reload the program - a pain when using ferrari Got the Omnia i920 a week ago and tested it on a trip to Las Vegas with calls, email , pictures and video etc. I have a hard time adjusting to all the changes on the i920 coming from the 910. Guest Shemmy Posted December 18, 2009 Report Posted December 18, 2009 You can remap the hardware keys.
Guest docfreed Posted December 18, 2009 Report Posted December 18, 2009 You can remap the hardware keys. Can you remap the Camera and Lock Keys. On the I920 it's an incredibly stupid design to have them so close together.
Guest costipl Posted December 19, 2009 Report Posted December 19, 2009 Close? The camera key is on the left, the lock key on the right (when holding the phone in camera mode), they as far from each other as is practically possible (there's just enough room next to the lock button to hold the phone comfortably).

I'm talking about an I920 - you probably have an I8000
Guest ad720 Posted December 21, 2009 Report Posted December 21, 2009 I really miss the D pad/optical mouse. Otherwise I like the i920 much better.
