Guest rul3s Posted December 19, 2009 Report Posted December 19, 2009 (edited) So where it's better to install programs in case we have enought space? For example, SKTools, Google Maps, etc... device or internal memory? And Big programs such as IGO? Better on internal memory or Memory card (Class 4 for example)? I think it's better in the one who's got beter read speed, how can y mesure read/write speed of each one? And finally, there are some programs that need to be installed on device memory, but only a few, no? Thanks all! ;) Edited December 19, 2009 by rul3s

As a rule always try the storage first- Internal or External.

Because SWYPE keyboard doesn't need much memory, but if it's faster on the device, i would install it there, but if storage it's faster, in storage. I'm going to do some tests, i'll post the results!

Some programs have to and should be installed on the Device order for it to work properly and fast. Swype would be a function utility program and should be on the device. Another way to look at it is: Key function programs and phone utilities are installed on the device. Let say the The UI or swype were put on a removable storage card. If the Card was removed the phone would not function right. Yet if games and other applications were on the same card and removed. The phone will still work and not the app.

On my Omnia II SWYPE requires 11MB which for our stock 6.5 ROM devices is a lot. I've curently installed it in My Storage, seems fine, but I do notice a slight lag when SWYPE has to launch. I install everything I can to the 8GB "My Storage," and leave the USB drive function specifically for the microSDHC card.
