My i8000's GPS wasn't working for the first few days I bought it, but then it worked for 2 days beatifully with like 5seconds start time with A-GPS. But before that nothing works and it never finds any signal for tens of minutes of course, in open area.

Though it magically worked for 2 days but now I'm in another country and it no longer works, yeah i disabled A-GPS and it wouldn't work here anyway, but it doesn't work at all, not just slow start but it never starts. I have not changed any settings so I have absolutly no idea why is it doing this.

also, I'm in the Uk and somehow it can't connect to any mobile networks? I thought it was like quad-band good for anywhere in the world? or do I have to actually flash to another ROM to make it work?

aside from these, I'm pretty satisfied with the stuff, the screen is awesome and I'm tired of those glowing black areas on LCD screens, so am I sick of the stupid viewing angles like the stupid expensive Palm Pre. I do find it has significantly more lags than iPhone or Androids, but at least it beats them in the screen, battery and memory.

Generally Omnia2 GPS setting as fellow:

A) first you have to checked the fellowing.

1) Omnia2 must in Phone mode even without a SIM card.

2) No need to change the default setting:

Programme port : com7

Hardware port: com9, baud rate: 4800

Access: checked manage GPS automatically(Recommended).

without the above setting it will not works for u and it formed a complete

GPSr system in Omnia2.

:) To comfirm the GPS whether worked in your Omnia2:

Installed BeelineGPS, Once it first started, it will scan through all the com port until it found the GPS. If it found the GPS, just fellow the screen instruction and waited for the first GPS fixed in the open space. Generally less then 2 minute. With XTRA enabled it will fasten the GPS fixed.

If it can't found, your probably have a faulty GPS. Send to Samsung Service Center to solve it.

I had no problem on IJ9, IJC, IK5 and IH5 and IL5 firmware. I was using Garmin Mobile XT.

If it can't find the GPS, you better send the Omnia2 to Samsung service center for the check.

Has anybody tried typing in *#1472365# into their Omnia2?

It brings up some extra gps settings, some of which are similar to settings that can be reached in registry but some are unique.

The main one that was of interest to me was the start up mode of GPS.

Mine was set to cold start which meant that every time i started my tomtom it did so by deleting all previous data.

This meant i was on a cold start each and every time i used it which was why it took forever to lock sometimes.

I have now changed this setting to "hotstart" and my locks are instant.

There are various other settings that can be played with and tried out but this setting alone got rid of the only flaw i could find in the Omnia2.
