Guest ad720 Posted December 21, 2009 Report Posted December 21, 2009 (edited) Does anyone know if it is possible to re-map the program that the device lock uses? It seems to default to what I guess is the touch-whiz lock (wood grain color background, big clock, large "Touch to Unlock" yellow button). I would prefer if if would default to the Windows default "slide" unlock. It doesn't seem possible to do so using the "buttons" setting, is there some registry change that can be made? I started one myself. scroll down the page a little. As of yet it isn't possible, but you can get the WM lock screen to work, but not from the lock button, it only goes to it from the start menu, and also for some reason the camera button is not locked when you use it...

Ahh, sorry...I must have been searching using incorrect terms. Thanks for the info, that is exactly what I'm doing - using long press on "button one". It is just a bummer that I have to waste a button assignment and can't get the dedicated button to do it.
Guest ad720 Posted December 24, 2009 Report Posted December 24, 2009 Just bumping this up incase anyone has any ideas. I've gone through the whole registry and nothing has really popped out at me as being related. Am I right to assume that it IS a registry entry that controls the function of the lock button (or the camera button for that matter)?
Guest ad720 Posted December 24, 2009 Report Posted December 24, 2009 (edited) Messing around in registry and found a few things - hkcu -> software -> samsung -> lockscreen -> Default mode = 0 (change to 1 = show owner info) Default lock = 1 (change to 0 = no lock screen - Lock button just turns off the screen) So changing "lock" to 0 is a help for me. I can still use my shortcut to use the Windows Mobile default lock and then hit the Lock button to turn of the screen. Still digging... I really think that if I could replace the "LockScreen" link in /windows to the shortcut that I have for the Windows lock screen ([lock device]) that would work but I can't edit the "LockScreen" link as it is a system file. is there anyway to get around that? Guest dwallersv Posted December 24, 2009 Report Posted December 24, 2009 Answered this in one of the other threads... Use VJBrisk. You can then map the button to do anything you want, limited only by whatever it is needing to target a shortcut or executable. I did this to make the lock button use S2U2 instead of the native lockscreen.exe. Works like a charm.

I change vjbrisk.exe to lockscreen.exe? Then I need to change the shortcut I have - [device lock] also to lockscreen.lnk? Edited December 24, 2009 by ad720

Guest dwallersv Posted December 24, 2009 Report Posted December 24, 2009 (edited) Wow. thanks. Could you be a little more specific about what I am replacing? I change vjbrisk.exe to lockscreen.exe? Then I need to change the shortcut I have - [device lock] also to lockscreen.lnk? Create a shortcut to the program you want to run when you press the button (for S2U2 it will target \Program Files\S2U2\S2U2.exe), name it lockscreenLNK.lnk, and put it in \Windows. Make a copy of VJBrisk.exe, rename it to lockscreen.exe. Copy your fake VJBrisk lockscreen.exe to \Windows, overwriting (really, hiding) the original lockscreen.exe. No reboot should be necessary... It should then lock the screen with S2U2 when you press the lock button. Follow the same procedure for any executable you want the lock button to launch, substituting the executable name above everywhere you see "lockscreen". Credit, as always, to Vijay555 for this wonderful, simple tool Combined with MortScript, many quirks, problems, issues can be resolved fairly easily. For example, if you use S2U2's volume control (I like it much better than Samsung's coarse, 5-step idiotic control), you'll have a new problem: Zooming on the camera via the volume rocker won't work any more. Problem solved with VJBrisk to intercept execution of \Windows\camera.exe, run a MortScript instead that kills off ilock2, starts the camera, waits, then restarts ilock2 when the camera exits. Price paid: An extra second or two for the camera to start up when you press the button. Zoom works when in the Camera app, S2U2 volume everywhere else. Edited December 24, 2009 by dwallersv
