Guest amwafa Posted December 22, 2009 Report Posted December 22, 2009 I have a Samsung Omnia II GT-i8000 (GSM) that I purchased from an online dealer, who in turn got it from Singapore. The ROM update process through the New PC Studio provided on Samsung's website from WM 6.1 to 6.5 failed miserably, but luckily, the 6.5 ROM was saved automatically before it was deleted by the program upon update completion. The *.MST portion of the ROM can't be used, only if it's in *.NB0, as my 8GB internal memory spontaneously ceased to exist a few months ago (apparently it's a common problem and only fixable by either formatting [failed for me] or sending the phone to a local Samsung dealer, which is my last resort since the closest for me is in a different country). Also, the company I purchased it from said they can't help me since I 'altered the ROM,' even though it was by Samsung's instructions and program. I'm stranded and only left with the option of converting the *.MST to a *.NB0 ROM file...is it possible? If so, how?
Guest amwafa Posted December 22, 2009 Report Posted December 22, 2009 Btw, I apologize for the duplicate post...I'm trying to delete it but am not sure how.
Guest Job21 Posted December 22, 2009 Report Posted December 22, 2009 I think the other experts has explained somewhere in this forum. The MST file contains prog. with so many different language, so it could be pretty messy when dumping/ cooking it so easiest way is to dump rom from your machine (with language chosen)

Among other things, MST format includes not only the PDA part that gets downloaded to the NAND memory, but also files that go to the 8/16 GB internal storage, that's why you can't flash it if you lost that memory. Keep an eye on this forum, i might write an utility to do this, and post it... (it can be manually done using an hex editor, but you have to have certain knowledge) ...

If you do in fact create a utility that helps me successfully update to 6.5 using the files I have, I would not hesitate to donate!

Using below tool from Rodrigofd to convert it to .nb0 format. http://www.modaco.com/content/i8000-omnia-...le-rom-at-once/ ** I try to convert and it is successful converting the format, but I not tested flash back to phone yet, you may try it out and post the result.
