Guest AndrewTan Posted December 29, 2009 Report Posted December 29, 2009 Version 3.5.3 (Dec 29, 2009): OpenGL ES 2.0 support in SPB Carousel Windows Mobile 6.5 icons support Miscellaneous bug fixes and optimizations Is it just me or is this upgrade totaly slowing down the Omnia2 ? SPB finally support OpenGL ES 2.0 which make the SPB Carousel in 3D mode, but the performance is ready bad, hope future version enchanced on it.
Guest Tylwith Posted December 29, 2009 Report Posted December 29, 2009 it also support the gravity sensor if set it up in the registry without using any other lib/drivers on o2
Guest Meen Posted December 29, 2009 Report Posted December 29, 2009 Extremely slow on 3D interface. Hope they release a hot fix soon.
Guest Cyberpictures Posted December 29, 2009 Report Posted December 29, 2009 Okay seems you guys have the same problems as i do. In my opinion don't update, the speed is realy a pain.
Guest teslapolaris Posted December 29, 2009 Report Posted December 29, 2009 Initially it's really slow. I just change the background picture and everything goes back to normal. Not sure it'll worked for everyone. The carousel is very slow though.
Guest AndrewTan Posted December 30, 2009 Report Posted December 30, 2009 Once restart, the speed is same as before, just only the carousel is damn slow, I already switch off the 3D acceleration, as I didn't seen any acceleration at all. Overall still worth to updates, now it using WinMo 6.5 icons, which means all icon is nice and beauty.
Guest iczboi Posted December 30, 2009 Report Posted December 30, 2009 remember to turn off samsung widget from the settings if you are using it previously.
Guest amitsharma.atc Posted December 30, 2009 Report Posted December 30, 2009 and what about message and mail viewer performance is it normal or slow?????
Guest Badulay Posted December 30, 2009 Report Posted December 30, 2009 Disable touchwiz, install Sk tools clean ram, got to registry LocalMachine\software\spb .... house 2\spb mobile shell\gl\ reflections key and give 0 than go one folder up do the same to hqreflections key you'll see the difference also you can try to install gpiofx and make the clock 475 "950" you'll be flying
Guest puga74 Posted December 30, 2009 Report Posted December 30, 2009 Thanks this make the carousel faster (though no fancy reflections)! Do you know how to make the message 3d viewer have the 3d effect also?
Guest puga74 Posted December 30, 2009 Report Posted December 30, 2009 it also support the gravity sensor if set it up in the registry without using any other lib/drivers on o2 Can you show me how do you do that? I changed GSensor = 1 in the registry but nothing happened. Still no bending on carousel while tilting the phone
Guest Badulay Posted December 30, 2009 Report Posted December 30, 2009 Thanks this make the carousel faster (though no fancy reflections)! Do you know how to make the message 3d viewer have the 3d effect also? in fact old version of Spb MS had the gl support too only you could activate it with registry but you werent able to select the screen you want besides you had the gl 3d messaging too with some bugs However in this version i couldnt manage to activate it maybe no more 3d messaging?

On 6.5 its ok.
Guest hkwildboy Posted December 31, 2009 Report Posted December 31, 2009 (edited) Are you using winmo 6.1? That happened to me when I used it on 6.1. On 6.5 its ok. Yes, you're right, i'm using 6.1. So i guess they took care of 6.5 icons but forgot about 6.1 icons. Well, anyways, i reaaly dont see much purpose for upgrading to 3.5.3. The hardware acceleration for the carousel is a big "joke", really jerky. And the carousel itself maybe a showy thing to impress people initially, but it has really no practical purpose. It's much faster to tap on a function icon to navigate to a particular page, then to use that stupid carousel. :) Edited December 31, 2009 by hkwildboy

Guest lantony Posted January 11, 2010 Report Posted January 11, 2010 Guys it's not a problem of SPB, the problem comes from the Samsung programmers! There is still no official new ROM for Omnia2 that provides better performance in directdraw/3d gles applications. For istance my old Omnia i900 plays Hd videos (480p) faster than Omnia2 in coreplyer !!!!

For istance my old Omnia i900 plays Hd videos (480p) faster than Omnia2 in coreplyer !!!! Coreplayer does not support opengl es 2.0 that's why omnia default media player which is compatible to es 2.0 performs better. Omnia2 was made to support es 2.0 which is better but unfortunately it is not backward compatible to es 1. Think since this is first edtion for es 2.0 from SPB, i believe they will release an update to rectify the problems.
Guest ZeroXtreme Posted January 23, 2010 Report Posted January 23, 2010 Anyone manage to get haptic (force) feedback working with Spb Mobile Shell 3.5.3 on their Omnia II? To me this is more important than the 3D function, I mean I like the 3D function but it is just eye candy, more of "form" than "function". The haptic feedback helps me know better if I pressed a widget or not even without looking at the screen, so this is more important to me. Thanks in advance.
Guest sorg Posted January 23, 2010 Report Posted January 23, 2010 (edited) there is nothing relative between video playback and opengl. It's totally different things and not depend on each other. You can boost video playback on Omnia 2 by switching to directdraw mode (which is also accelerated on Omnia 2). Edited January 23, 2010 by sorg
Guest alaamac199 Posted January 26, 2010 Report Posted January 26, 2010 there is nothing relative between video playback and opengl. It's totally different things and not depend on each other. You can boost video playback on Omnia 2 by switching to directdraw mode (which is also accelerated on Omnia 2). it's right that Omnia2 has accelerated directdraw mode .. but currently CorePlayer doesn't support the S3C6410 platform yet .. so still no use ..
