Just found an easy way to enable the front camera of i8000 to take photos.... just put in the following registry :

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Samsung\Camera

"SupportFrontCamera"=dword:1

Afterwards, you'll notice in the camera software there is an additional choice for self protrait photos, choosing this mode will enable you to take photo using the front camera

Without trying it myself, have you done a soft reset after making the registry changes?

Didn't work for me either (IL5). But:

As I like to investigate things I found a solution for the problem:

HKEY_Current_User\Software\Samsung\Camera

"SupportFrontCamera"=dword:1

Seems like Samsung changed the structure a bit.

I added it some days ago to the Tweak thread:

Front Camera

  • Taking pictures with front camera (DOESN'T WORK WITH VERIZON i920: if you applied the tweak anyway and you camera isn't working anymore, all you have to do is change the HKCU/Software/Samsung/Camera "shooting mode" reg key to 0 after deleting the front camera reg tweak)

Go to: HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Software/Samsung/Camera

Create new Dword: SupportFrontCamera = 1

Start camera

Go to "Shooting mode" (second left icon from the top)

Select "Self"

and you have your front camera (640 x 480)

Works like a charm. Wonder why Samsung chose to disable it by default?
