Guest ray1234 Posted December 30, 2009 Report Posted December 30, 2009 (edited) Just found an easy way to enable the front camera of i8000 to take photos.... just put in the following registry : HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Samsung\Camera "SupportFrontCamera"=dword:1 Afterwards, you'll notice in the camera software there is an additional choice for self protrait photos, choosing this mode will enable you to take photo using the front camera Edited December 30, 2009 by ray1234
Guest awarner (MVP) Posted December 30, 2009 Report Posted December 30, 2009 Once I sort out my resco registry code I'll be giving this a go. Nice find :)

Guest awarner (MVP) Posted December 30, 2009 Report Posted December 30, 2009 Without trying it myself, have you done a soft reset after making the registry changes?

Guest hiperjp Posted December 30, 2009 Report Posted December 30, 2009 (edited) Nice find. Working well for me. What's your ROM version?. I have secany's L5. Edited December 30, 2009 by hiperjp
Guest Delvius Posted December 30, 2009 Report Posted December 30, 2009 Didn't work for me either (IL5). But: As I like to investigate things I found a solution for the problem: HKEY_Current_User\Software\Samsung\Camera "SupportFrontCamera"=dword:1 Seems like Samsung changed the structure a bit.
Guest tacchan23 Posted December 30, 2009 Report Posted December 30, 2009 I added it some days ago to the Tweak thread: Front Camera Taking pictures with front camera (DOESN'T WORK WITH VERIZON i920: if you applied the tweak anyway and you camera isn't working anymore, all you have to do is change the HKCU/Software/Samsung/Camera "shooting mode" reg key to 0 after deleting the front camera reg tweak) Go to: HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Software/Samsung/Camera Create new Dword: SupportFrontCamera = 1 Start camera Go to "Shooting mode" (second left icon from the top) Select "Self" and you have your front camera (640 x 480)

Guest cythe Posted December 31, 2009 Report Posted December 31, 2009 Works like a charm. Wonder why Samsung chose to disable it by default?
