Change Voice Mail Number?

I'm trying to enable the use of DTMF tones on my VM # (e.g., commas to extend time, then passnumber) but when I try to change the VM number in Settings it says "invalid input" for everything except *86. When I press the VM icon I want to be able to dial my VM and have it automatically enter passnumber. This used to work on Omnia 1
