Hi there!

I'm sorry for my english, i am french, i'll try to do my best though :)

I have a big issue with my Omnia II since i did a hard reset on it.

I had some memory problems so instead of getting rid of all my programms, i decided to hard reset it. Now, whenever i try to access to "My storage" i get an filesys.exe error and can't do anything.

It seems that my "my storage" file ain't there anymore. I mean, i see it on my phone but it is empty :

clipboard02eq.jpg

I used to store all my files there, how can i get it back ? Or did i badword my phone up ?

Thanks for your help

Do you have a I8000 or i920?

Try this: take the battery off for a couple of minutes. Put it back and then try again a hard reset (via the keys).

I have a I8000.

I just did what you said, nothing changed :)

I really don't understand what happened ;)

I had this problem too when I'd flashed my Omnia pro back to wm6.1

The problems with my phone appears to be that I had installed the CSC from a WM6.5 and a rom of WM6.1

I've solved this by flashing an older CSC on the device and now "my storrage" is accesable again.

what is a CSC if u don't mind me asking :)

Can you please type in the dialer this: *#1234# and post the results?

filesys.exe is responsible for a lot of actions, as kernel load, ROM reading, storage management. Your errors might indicate a faulty device... or some software/flash error.

I suspect there's some rom corruption there, so you might want to try a master reset (factory reset), by dialing in the dialer: *2767*3855#

BUT don't do this yet, wait maybe someone else knows another way to fix your issue.

BTW, if you have installed S2U (Slide2Unlock) try uninstalling it and see if this fixes your issue. It has been reported on other forums to cause issues.

And to answer your question, CSC is best explained here (important, read the whole thing not only CSC).

You might find a good CSC here more exactly under XXIL5, or directly here. I suggest you read the thread on flashing thoroughly to understand the risks and the whole procedure.

Yeah, it tells us the following

By decoding PDA: I8000BUII1

I8000 on Windows Mobile 6.1

BU - not sure what region that stands for (maybe Benelux?)

I - release year 2009

I - released in September

1 - version of release

CSC Decoding: I8000SFRII1

same versions as above (released sept 2009 v1), and it's pointing to the carrier as F SFR

Phone, same version.

None of the above indicate an error, they're just for information to get us to understand better the background.

Not sure what the problem is there. Can you please download and install Process Explorer from here (pe.zip or pewithmfc.zip - first should work) and tell me after you run it how many processes do you have and if filesys.exe is among them. If you can, please type all of them here, might be useful to track down if a core system process not running.

Thanks trying to help me Ender Psp :)

Well, i tried to install Process Explorer but when i wanted to use it, it wouldn't work. I have Task Manager installed on my phone though, i guess it's pretty much the same thing. So when i use task, i see those in processes :

TaskMgr.exe

tmail.exe

rapiclnt

MobileShell.exe

ScreenCapture.exe

CHomeManager.exe

repllog.exe

PlayerAutoUpdate.exe

poutlook.exe

AlarmWatcher.exe

cprog.exe

btp_notification_ui.exe

connmgr.exe

services.exe

shell32.exe

gwes.exe

device.exe

filesys.exe

NK.exe

That's all i have. So yeah, filesys.exe is among them. Also, there is a red cross next to gwes.exe, i don't know if that's normal ?

Anyway, i was able today to go to memory parameters and then to my storage (i wasn'"t abe to do this before because i had filesys.exe errors) and this is what i saw there :

screen001x.jpg

which is pretty strange. And when i click on "Réinitialiser" (which means reset), it doesn't change a damn thing. It only creates a "My Storage 2" which is just a replica of "My Storage".

Anyway, what bothered me is taht you said i have win 6.1 installed on my phone. I'm 99% sure i had win 6.5 when i first had my I8000. And i say it again, i never flashed my phone (i wouldn't be able to even if i wanted to lol) so this is strange too.

I had my phone in october and the only things i did was to install some stuff on it. Let me tell you what i had on it, maybe it could be helpfull.

I had SPB MS (the latest one), MobileSense 3.5.2.2009 by neong (or something like this), SPB Weather, Im+, beejive, Flix, NETCFv35.ppc.wm5_6, Resco photo, SlideIt and Swype and a few others that i don't remember. All of them was the trial version, except for SPB Mobile Shell (someone gave me a code).

So i decided to get rid of some programms (like beejive, flix and things like that because i had some issues with my memory (512 mo ain't enough uh lol) so uninstalled some stuff and then uninstalled SPM Mobile Shell WITHOUT uninstalling MobileSense first. I remember i wanted to reinstall SPB MB and it wouldn't work, saying i didn't have enough memory. So i guess my problem was already here.

What scares me is that I hard reset my phone like 3 times and even did the numbers thing (*2767*3855#) and my storage still won't work.

Do you think i could get it to work again ? Another question (as i have no idea), does hard reset "break" the warranty i have on my phone ? Maybe i could get a new one, i dunno.

Thanks in advance for your help on this ;)

Hard resert doens't void your warranty.

You could try to read the topic about Missing Storage (you can find link in my FAQ thread in my singature).

Anyway if you have a service center near to you, that would be the best bet.

I'm not sure why these 2 are running. Mainly remote api and part of activesync (were you connected via usb cable when you did this?).

In general settings, can you set usb to MyStorage and then connect via usb, run WinHex and click Click Tools, Open Disk and post a screenshot? Or a screenshot from Disk Manager in Windows (but it doesn't show hidden partitions).

I don't see any other underlying software issue, so if you have a warranty, you might want to get it checked.

i'm pretty sure your ROM is a 6.5, if you bought your phone in France (as i did), because the first I8000 sold in France were already 6.5.

6.1 I8000 never existed in France (released on october 7 or 8 in France, 1 or 2 days after 6.5 release date)

i bought mine on 8 or 9 of october, and i'm pretty sure i had the same ROM as you (i changed ROM since i got it)

so if you bought it in france, (in october, must be from sfr, as the rom also stated) it's a 6.5 I8000

Can you please post yout PDA version? LE: didnt read properly, you had. Well if you decide to hard reset (SPB Backup works well) maybe you can confirm reverting to the stock rom, and post it here.

WM 6.5 versions should contain a "N" in it, at least that's what others found out, and I could verify on a couple of phones.

Just a guess here:

maybe the N (indicating wm6.5) comes only in "Region" coded ROMs and not in "Netwrok carrier" branded ROMs (BU should be Vodafone)

i found better, i remembered i posted screenshots in a thread about 6.5 upgrade, in early october, to say it was already available in France:

http://www.modaco.com/index.php?s=&sho...t&p=1083975

as you can see, it's 6.5 and it's the same ROM

as tacchan23 said, the "N rule" must not be true for branded ROMs

and yes BU must be for vodafone. i don't remember if vodafone owns sfr, or the contrary, or if they are just partners, but it's something like that :)

Yes I was connected via usb at that time.

OK, so i did what you asked for but when i click on Open Disk and click on my cellphone, it says that this file doesn't contain known files and that i need to check if it isn't damage.

Here's the screen anyway but i doubt if will be usefull :

Well, the "missing" my storage is a well known hardware problem which occurred to "many" users. Just not sure if it's exactly the same case as yours as you reported some problems with some .exe files too.

Well, I don't think you opened the right MyStorage media but opened the actual logical drive.

You should select from Physical Media, like this, not from the Logical Drives:

It should look like the one in this post (that's my 2GB).
