Thanks and waiting for your answers! actually i have the same problem and it really pissed me off. i didnt have that problem with the previous omnia 1 but with O2 my whole screen has tiny thin scratches and you can actually see the words i scribbled when i made them with the stylus in the notes app. i was going to take it in as thats obviously a hardware fault not mine and if it really bothers you then see if u can get it replaced btw i recommend backing everything up as im pretty sure they wioll wipe all your data afterwards, dont know y but they might. or just put a screen protector on it and you will barely see the scratches and it will protect your phone from any more damage. btw you may go for the Zagg invisible shield but from my experience its a pain in the arse to install and i just chucked it away then i just brought a cheap 3pack. wiped my screen installed one screen guard, removed it as i noticed that static caused dust on the screen under screen guard and quickly installed a second one. now ma screen looks fine you have to look very hard to see the scratched and i dont have anymore new ones
Guest Ender Psp Posted January 5, 2010 Report Posted January 5, 2010 (edited) Guys, touch screens scratch. The only way to prevent this is to install a screen protector. If you haven't already order one and put it over the screen. You'll see the benefits in time. As for your warranty, I'm not sure it covers screens damaged by the user (as it doesn't affect functionality) but if you can prove that the stylus did this you might have a case. You should definitely try and really, really insist upon changing the screen and the stylus or the whole device. Edited January 5, 2010 by Ender Psp
Guest charly_mx Posted January 5, 2010 Report Posted January 5, 2010 Oh man that is terrible, the first think I did before even charging the device was to put the screen protector on. I mean 50 % of the device is the screen.
Guest Ender Psp Posted January 5, 2010 Report Posted January 5, 2010 Oh man that is terrible, the first think I did before even charging the device was to put the screen protector on. I mean 50 % of the device is the screen. It's not only that the screen makes up for most of the device. Any surface is prone to damage. And in production, it might happen that one in tens of thousands of styluses might came with an imperfection on the tip. Although these are tested, you should understand that they're tested statistically. This means that from a lot of 10, maybe 1 or 2 will be tested. If a faulty item is found, the whole lot is usually scrapped. While the end product (the phone) is probably tested individually, they won't do that for the other components. Especially when they're a complement for the device. So why not do yourselves a favor and put a screen protector on? It's the same reason some of your papers/documents are protected, they're covered/laminated in plastic to sustain longer life...
Guest DunKnow Posted January 5, 2010 Report Posted January 5, 2010 Remember the first thing to do after u unbox any phone, apply a piece of screen protector. This will 100% protect your beloved screen of any scratches. I think wear and tear is not included in the warranty. Lets hope you could get the screen to be changed.
Guest Kapica Posted January 5, 2010 Report Posted January 5, 2010 ...i must complain too.... Scratched my screen with stylus too.... so disappointed.... but luckily its only seen then turned off so... i'll live
Guest Ganhiru Posted January 5, 2010 Report Posted January 5, 2010 The screen of the O2 is a bit softer than that of the O1 so it is less resitent to scraches. I noticed this to, and some one on this forum suggested the coatings from this site: http://www.clear-coat.com/ You have screen and full body protection, I got the full body for $25,- ( had it sent to me in the netherlands ) and its real strange soft strechable stuff. But Its holding great and I don't see anny scraches anny more plus :) no new one are being made. Here is a direct link : http://www.clear-coat.com/product.php?prod...t=56&page=1
Guest ronalgps Posted January 5, 2010 Report Posted January 5, 2010 HEY the same here in the first day it was scratched in the right side but after apply the Zagg invisible shield full body i cant see the scratch not more in the begin was lil difficult to use the protector the touch like the rubber but after some day come better so i use Zagg invisible shield full body and i don't see the scratch no more
Guest stylus1828 Posted January 5, 2010 Report Posted January 5, 2010 (edited) So i see that I'm not the only one that experienced this! Update! I went back to the store and explained my problem. They were very kind and told me that they will contact the service to tell them about my problem and see if there are more complaints about this problem. The guy at the store got my stylus in his hand and moved his finger on the tip of the stylus and he said : The tip of the stylus is so abrasive!!! Service responded back saying that they need to see the phone and stylus to make an expertise. So I'm hopping that they will change my screen and stylus! Fingers crossed! :) Edited January 5, 2010 by stylus1828

Displex shouldn't be used on touch screens, unless specified otherwise. The surface is coated specially and if you use anything abrasive like Displex it will disolve or weaken it. Good luck with the exchange! The service manual is also around here in one of the posts.
Guest youngdosha31 Posted January 6, 2010 Report Posted January 6, 2010 I upgraded from the i910 to the i920 and first thing I did was cut the lower end of the plastic screen cover the phone came with so I could use the 3 buttons with no problem. A few days ago the plastic cover came off(was slightly tilted.) I was so worried about scratching the screen(I920 has one of the sweetest screens that i've ever seen.)That I didn't touch the screen till I got a real screen protector. Verizon was sold out so I got one for the iphone and cut the bottom part off(It had a whole for the home button)worked perfectly. My advise is to keep the screen cover on your phone that you would usually peal off when you get it out the box. It worked great for 2 weeks. other than that just buy one of those $10 3 packs or better yet buy one of those iphone screen covers that stops smuges from appearing on your screen. People with scratched screen. Verizon won't replace your phone for a scratched screen but they will replace your phone if it won't turn on or load. I've replaced 2 bricked I910's in the past and 1 because the touch was always off by a centimeter where ever I made contact on the screen.(I dropped it that time) I just always said I don't know what happend. Or it froze then when I restarted it it wouldn't load. Also make this face when your talking to the rep. :)
Guest Matt174e Posted January 6, 2010 Report Posted January 6, 2010 I had no idea the screen was so bad. I slapped a iSheildz screen protector on my phone before I ever used it, so I have no idea what the bare screen is actually like. But I can tell you that having a screen protector like the iSheildz (which I'm pretty sure is just a knock off of invisible shield) works amazing... no smudges, hardly any glare, and no sign of scratches on the protector (and from what I've read, it will cover the small scratches you already have). My only minor issue is that the protector feels grippy for when I make sliding gestures.
Guest surgex Posted January 6, 2010 Report Posted January 6, 2010 This is something I *really* hate about resistive screens...they scratch SO easily.. I've had the OmniaHD (capacitive screen) for 6 months now, not one scratch. But for a resistive screen device like the omnia2, yes the stylus WILL scratch the screen if you press down too hard (happens on every resistive screen device with a stylus) -- use a screen protector.

I had the invisible shield full phone protection on my i910 and it the grippiness went away after a while but the phone never got a scratch :)
Guest FerdiBorbon Posted January 7, 2010 Report Posted January 7, 2010 IT HURTS!! i know how you feel, the first 30 mins i unpacked my O2 i removed the factory screen protector, then coped a mad scratch in the middle of the screen, i dealt with it for a while then more scratches appeared, bought another O2 and sold my scratched one on ebay... then Martin Fields screen protector for life now :) no issues...
Guest stylus1828 Posted January 7, 2010 Report Posted January 7, 2010 Update 2! I received my answer from the samsung service. They will change my screen and stylus for free! B) :)

Guest CSMR Posted January 8, 2010 Report Posted January 8, 2010 That's amazing that they replaced it. Always use a screen protector. Normally that will also obscure any scratches underneath to a large extent.
Guest absolutshame Posted January 11, 2010 Report Posted January 11, 2010 If your still within 30 days of purchase you can exchange the phone. Just brick it on purpose while performing the i920 rom upgrade and they will replace it.
