Guest elchicodelbalcon Posted January 6, 2010 Report Posted January 6, 2010 (edited) I have a GT-i8000L from Argentina with wm 6.5, and also having the increasing volume problem when i recieve an incoming call. The ring starts at low volume and suddenly after almost 4 seconds it goes fully up. The registry fix sugested in this forum in my case mutes the ringtone completly, and now i edited the first seconds on my ringtone, 3,7 seconds of silence at the begining so at least it starts with vibration and then it begins with full sound level. I think this basic function should not be having this kind of trouble in such an expensive phone, and i see this is not a new issue. Is this Samsung or Windows fault? I tried to call Samsung Argentina support but lines are always bussy. They must really fix this issue, it's really annoying. If someone finds the fix for this, please post it. Thanks! There's no fix yet, and this is how Samsung designed the Phone firmware part. Maybe someday one of the experienced people who disassemble roms or one of the cookers will find a solution.

But it's clearly a bug, because when you preview the ringtone in the settings menu it sounds right. I sent an email to samsung support today, lets see if they give me any answer.
Guest touchflo Posted January 8, 2010 Report Posted January 8, 2010 actually its a feature according to samsung. and this happens to most of the samsung phones, not just omnia2. just edit the ringtone and increase the volume for the first few seconds then save it.
Guest elchicodelbalcon Posted January 9, 2010 Report Posted January 9, 2010 actually its a feature according to samsung. and this happens to most of the samsung phones, not just omnia2. just edit the ringtone and increase the volume for the first few seconds then save it. If i do that, the first seconds of the audio will be totally clipped and saturated. What i should do to get clean audio is to decrease volume after the first seconds actually, but the result will be a very soft volume ringtone, and i will be years trying to get the exact level difference between the first and second part of the ringtone to fit samsung's stupid feature. I had an email reply from Samsung Support and they told me to take the Omnia II to the service centre to check it out, but i live too far away from it and i guess they will not solve this because as touchflo says it looks like a feature (Who was the genius who thought it could be nice to anyone??). :) I hope someone finds a solution to this, it's so irritating! (Sorry for bad english!)
Guest valiwm Posted January 9, 2010 Report Posted January 9, 2010 (edited) Did you tried to change in the HKCU\Control Panel\SoundCategories\Ring AttenuationCategory - change to 5 than soft reset. Make this change with an registri editor. Work for my Omnia2 - win mob 6.1 original rom. But, attention - has been known to disable ringer on some ROMS, so make this change your own risk! Y hope this is work for you. Edited January 9, 2010 by valiwm

I think that fix only works on some older wm 6.1 roms, but my i8000L came with wm 6.5 by default... :)

(Sorry for bad english!) if you lower it it will do the opposite of what you want and make the ringtone lower than desired... first few seconds worksand doesnt distort or saturate...just adjust in moderation... btw good luck with the email to samsung....prob will end up with the corporate answer of crap like most emails to them get but good luck...
Guest Pawel81 Posted March 29, 2010 Report Posted March 29, 2010 Install WM 6.1. Ringtones are loud from beginning... and it's faster.
