Guest sonyxperiax2 Posted January 7, 2010 Report Posted January 7, 2010 I red that there is an hack for the HD2 to improve video recoding quality. All it is to modify a registry value. The same hack for i8000 ( i think this is the same for b7610) is not working. Do you know if there is a way to impove it? Serching in the registry i found this: HLM\software\microsoft\pictures\camera\oem\videoprofile\1\ or 2\ this value: VideoOnlyFileSizePerSecond I tried to increase this value but without result. I think that this is linked to the basic windows camera application. Is it? Is there a way to use it eventually? Hope that we can improve video quality more than double like HD2 can.. Thank you :)

Any ideea where these values are actually stored (vor video quality)? Maybe in an ini file?
Guest AndyCarroll Posted January 8, 2010 Report Posted January 8, 2010 (edited) Actually, in HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Samsung\Camera\ there are a couple of interesting entries, among which: VideoQuality VideoSize These are interesting things indeed :) I wonder if there are more some hidden registry entries like SupportFrontCamera is. Analyzed recorded videos, they are all 30fps or so and it seems that this "jumpiness" is actually doubled frames in video. I guess it's not weak CPU what does this because these freezed frames are in all available resolutions equally. By the way, OmniaHD does the same "jumpy" video. Bug in Samsungs camera firmware? Maybe somehow we can record smooth 24 or 25fps video? Edited January 8, 2010 by AndyCarroll

Guest Ximo_GPEG Posted January 9, 2010 Report Posted January 9, 2010 I would prefer more brightness at night video
Guest babyjosef17 Posted January 9, 2010 Report Posted January 9, 2010 I would prefer more brightness at night video True. I would also preffer that. Our o2 takes amazing videos on well lit enviroment. But not on dim light. Funny thing the photo camera takes good photos both on well lit and dim lit enviroments. I hope samsung would relaese a update for this.

Very poor quality, tons of skips and jumps in "HD" recording, and tons of hot pixels too.
Guest sekobati Posted January 9, 2010 Report Posted January 9, 2010 Samsung should be fixing this issue not us!! thats why sometimes i dont like open platforms cuz the manufacture company depends on the developers to complete their work! :)
Guest sonyxperiax2 Posted January 11, 2010 Report Posted January 11, 2010 It will be very cool to decrease fps and raise the quality of recoring.. 20 fps is just ok. Any ideas to how to? I am sure that we can done it by using the default windows mobile camera application. Some one know where to found this? I am sure that the value on "oem" registri folder can be tweaked...
Guest damienloh Posted January 20, 2010 Report Posted January 20, 2010 Recording @ 720x480 is jerky but smoother @ 640x480.
Guest AndyCarroll Posted January 20, 2010 Report Posted January 20, 2010 (edited) Recording @ 720x480 is jerky but smoother @ 640x480. Are you sure? Here are couple of testshots: 720x480 - 640x480 - CPU is High. Same jerkiness in all resolutions. Edited January 20, 2010 by AndyCarroll
Guest Rothariger Posted January 20, 2010 Report Posted January 20, 2010 (edited) yeah, its a shame... and with JA1, it doesnt take good pictures with dim light... at least mine doesnt... Edited January 20, 2010 by Rothariger
Guest edmundteosg Posted March 2, 2010 Report Posted March 2, 2010 (edited) at least now I know that I am not alone. I found the jerky video capturing with my OM2, just like u guys. I dun think Samsung will commit to offer a fix. Or has anyone heard abt a fix for the jerky video capturing in the pipeline? Edited March 2, 2010 by edmundteosg

You have to examine them while the camera.exe app is running, which obviously is really hard to do :( As soon as you quit the app, it resets a whole slew of reg values back to defaults so you never see the effect of changing some parameters while using it reflected in the registry. I've got around this back in my i910 days by using a Mortscript to start the camera without waiting, then dump the registry branch every 10 seconds into a file while camera.exe is running. It's the only way to see what happens in the registry.

I had the same problem in the past, have no idea what was doing it, but it all went away when I hard reset and rebuilt my configuration. I had a lot of "junk" I'd installed over the months to try out, or thought I wanted installed. Last week I decided to start clean and install what I need as I need it. Video is camcorder smooth at the moment.

No apps installed, brand new phone from unopened box. Actually...I8000-s camera performance was my first interest, maybe because I am a professional cameraman over 15 years :( Didn't expect any super-quality from this tiny camera but neither jerky video. Can you upload (youtube) some testshots? If you can, please hold your phone steady and shoot fast-moving objects. I've done my testshots holding phone against window's glass. edit: my guess is that CPU interrupting leads to skipped frames not freezed frames. We can correct this video simply erasing freezed frames with VirtualDub for example. Unfortunately format converting is needed, VDub cannot open mp4 files from Omnia2. Guest ray1234 Posted March 8, 2010 Report Posted March 8, 2010 Is everyone saving the video to 'My Storage' or 'Storage Card'? Anyone tried saving it to main memory? I too am encountering this 'duplicate' frame issue in the videos, which gives an effect that the video is not very smooth. Lucky I am on lite rom, so I've got 160MB of main memory left after installing all my programs. I tried the other day to save movies to my main memory, and the jerkiness seems to have gone. Mind you, I'm not taking movies of the same subject in the same location, so it is difficult to compare. Just want to confirm if anyone else has tried and see improvement like me ......
Guest ray1234 Posted April 5, 2010 Report Posted April 5, 2010 To demonstrate, I've made a video saving to main memory :- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b7bj-1HIQ0Y I reckon it is quite smooth..... Yes, this is smooth, at least no duplicated frames. Unfortunately recording to main memory doesn't help in my phone :P
Guest JASTECH Posted November 19, 2010 Report Posted November 19, 2010 It is taxing the cpu so the software inputs extra frames to try and smooth it out. The best way would be to boost the cpu from 800 to 900MHz. I know you can get to 940MHz and sustain w/o lock-ups. There has been a few members reaching 1GHz but locked up, as the voltage needs to be stepped up as well like I do OC'ing cpu's, mb's or RAM. JMHO Thanks, JASTECH
Guest ronandaj Posted March 21, 2011 Report Posted March 21, 2011 I have a problem with the video playback of my Omnia i8000... I bought it brand new last 2009, and the framerate already "jumps".. I just didn't pay too much attention to it as it may be a phone limitation... However, when I upgraded to WM 6.5, the jumping framerate disappear to my amazement and I finally enjoyed watching videos on my phone. However, due to the phone heating up (dunno why), I had to bring it to the service store and they re-installed 6.5.. The jumping framerate appeared again. I used a custom ROM: PDA: I8000AIJH1 CSC: I8000TITJH1 PHONE: I8000XXJF1 The jumping frame rate remains... Based on my experience, it has something to do with whatever system software we have. Up to now I don't know how to fix this, but maybe by posting this someone could help us out.. Any help would be greatly appreciated...
