Guest johnnyponny Posted January 11, 2010 Report Posted January 11, 2010 I tried to install it with the ACER Download Tool but it failed(I wanted to look at the screen so I pressed the power button) and now I can't start the phone. Can't remount it nor does a icon show up when charging. Have I possibly bricked it :S? Anyone?
Guest F_J_P Posted January 11, 2010 Report Posted January 11, 2010 Anyone? Try removing the battery or doing a hard reset. It worked for me once.
Guest Paul Posted January 11, 2010 Report Posted January 11, 2010 When you plug in the power lead does anything display on the screen? P
Guest efukt Posted January 11, 2010 Report Posted January 11, 2010 When you plug in the power lead does anything display on the screen? P Have talked to him, nothing happens for him just blackscreen, not even the battery sign shows up
Guest Zonk76 Posted January 11, 2010 Report Posted January 11, 2010 This is a bin format. Someone willing to test?! http://download.acer-club.ru/garbage/ First thoughts by drigerott "sensibility at border seems higher, root works and recovery works" "Radio ver. 1.07.01" I wonder why someone is feeding the (Russian) garbage with new firmware while it's even not discussed or mentioned on the Russian forum? Is that an unofficial way to do field test of new firmware? But this kind of "road to market" looks very strange to me :)

Guest Vailo Posted January 12, 2010 Report Posted January 12, 2010 Think I will pass flashing until Paul have had some time playing with it and tweaking the superboot so we can ave access to root :)
Guest thenext1 Posted January 12, 2010 Report Posted January 12, 2010 Hmm. I installed the firmware yesterday evening and that evening it lost charge from 91 to 87% in a 7-hour timespan. Good. Then, after waking up this morning with the phone having slept in airplane mode, I find it's at 50%. Bad. Awake time always counting up, meaning the phone wouldn't enter standby. Clues, anyone?
Guest Rocky7 Posted January 12, 2010 Report Posted January 12, 2010 hooo? I'm interrested, how would you compare both devices please? nexus is a sexy beast with a few problems ... screen too close to the edge meaning you catch it every now and again with your holding hand and it gives odd screen responses. acer is faster but uglier in a "looks good enough" sort of way. To be honest Android 2.1 is not a massive step on from Android 1.6 :) The nexus has a track ball and you can use the screen without holding the handset which is nice. IMHO though the Acer is a fantastic and very under rated handset. Bottom line is I use my nexus as its sexier B) Just about to flash the Acer to 1.008
Guest Lorents Posted January 12, 2010 Report Posted January 12, 2010 Bottom line is I use my nexus as its sexier I guess its a matter of personal taste, but I think my black Acer looks much better than the Nexus :)
Guest hpr Posted January 12, 2010 Report Posted January 12, 2010 Would it be possible to flash this ROM and still preserve all my user data? I'm lazy to re-install all my apps and especially data.
Guest chingy1788 Posted January 12, 2010 Report Posted January 12, 2010 I'd say my White Acer is the prettiest of them all (Except perhaps the Samsung Galaxies, Moment) Miss the track ball though
Guest zeus_hunt Posted January 12, 2010 Report Posted January 12, 2010 edge sensitivity is far better - would even say fixed I guess one can check using the simple test mentioned... One with 1.004 and one with the 1.008 DIY Touchscreen Analysis - http://labs.moto.com/ DIY Touchscreen Analysis from MOTO Development Group on Vimeo.
Guest Rocky7 Posted January 12, 2010 Report Posted January 12, 2010 I guess its a matter of personal taste, but I think my black Acer looks much better than the Nexus :) Always always always ... the Acer is a stellar phone ... way way better than I ever thought it would be but the blocky look and slippy buttons aren't my total cup of tea. Loads of other people really really rate its looks and its more obvious than the nexus. As they say, beauty is in the eye of the beholder, I even think the Milestone is a good looking phone. I think that if you have an Acer you have nothing to worry about, superb phone.
Guest sml12 Posted January 12, 2010 Report Posted January 12, 2010 Would it be possible to flash this ROM and still preserve all my user data? I'm lazy to re-install all my apps and especially data. +1 .. I spent so much time perfecting my liquid, I would love to keep my apps & settings & data?
Guest dawabz94 Posted January 12, 2010 Report Posted January 12, 2010 +1 .. I spent so much time perfecting my liquid, I would love to keep my apps & settings & data? well I personayl don't care reinstalling my apps, it's no big deal my only complain is abt games saved data, don't know if there is a way to restaure / re-import games data no big deal though, I'm not a hardcore gamer but would be a good + if anyone has a hint ....
Guest dawabz94 Posted January 12, 2010 Report Posted January 12, 2010 Bottom line is I use my nexus as its sexier :) Hi, thanks for the report; I was suspecting that Android 2.x was no big upgrade from 1.x I was even happy enough with 1.5 B) Agreed that on see pix on the interner, the Nexus looks sexier I would have loved seeing Acer spec under Motorola's Droid/Milestone hardware, would have been a dream to me I'm fine with the acer getting better and better and ... agreed, it's an underrated device IMHO ;)
