Copying contacts to the simcard

Is it me or a difficult/hidden thing to find? Have also tried the Contacts2sim free version that can be found on the market place and although it says it has copied over the missing contacts from the phone memory to the sim card memory it actually hasn't.... i.e. if I reboot the phone and run the app again or if I put the simcard in another phone.....

Any other options?
