UK Owners: Have You Been Charged VAT, If So How Much?

First post!

My invoice arrived today (phone arrived on 15th Jan) and I've also been charged 5% duty.

Quick google of the "customs commodity code" listed on the invoice (85177015) shows that that's actually the code for a telescopic antenna! Correct code for a mobile phone is 85171200.

Cheeky gits - I wonder how many people are incorrectly charged and just pay up because they're none the wiser.

Got mine through the post a few days ago. Turns out that living in hope isn't always the best solution.

Quick recap.

I have an invoice for £81.95.

5% duty which is wrong as should be 0%.

So I called up DHL, the nice guys said there should be no duty with mobile communications devices so will get in touch with HMC and send me a recalculated bill.

So I suspect down to £64.77

Will have had mine a full month tomorrow with no sign of a bill, anyone else in the same position ?

I got asked to pay mine before I even got the delivery. Doesn't matter at least its over and done with and now I can enjoy my N1 (£60.16)

**Edit: DHL had the cheek to try and charge me again by sending me an invoice through the post. I complained and they apologised.
