Guest kersey Posted January 20, 2010 Report Posted January 20, 2010 Hi all, Have just taken delivery of my Omnia II, so far am very impressed with speed but would like to know if it's possible to remove all of Samsungs skinned menus and return to the native WM6.5 ones. I've disabled the Touch Wiz for the home screen but want to get rid of it on all menus etc. Am hoping it will free up quite a bit of ram as I only have 53mb free after a fresh boot!!! Thanks in advance
Guest JasonMania Posted January 20, 2010 Report Posted January 20, 2010 (edited) also try disabling the Samsung Dialer Screen , and use SmartLock don't use the Windows mobile 6.5 LockScreen , than you get even more RAM , you will be surprised. oh and have a look here http://www.modaco.com/content/i8000-verizo...d-programs-faq/ Edited January 20, 2010 by JasonMania

I guess you could try flashing into ultra lite ROM , such as this http://www.modaco.com/content/i8000-omnia-...a-lite-rom-eng/ or you can look for more ROM option in here http://www.modaco.com/category/424/i8000-o...rom-discussion/ I assuming you know how to flash your ROM , if not better read the tutorial on how to flash the ROM , it is not that hard but if you don't know what you are doing you might brick your phone, here is the link to the guide just in case http://www.modaco.com/content/i8000-omnia-...g-rom-on-i8000/ and remember flashing in windows 7 is different from other windows version.

Been messing with the phone all day and kind have got used to the Samsung overlay...find it straight to the point really and saves me the need for SPB shell...have installed a few of the cabs from the link you posted too. Tried to flash the PDA part of the phone (am using Win 7) but no joy, would recognize the phone :)

Than disconnect your phone from your computer, start Octan downloader in windows xp service pack 3 compatibility mode, select all the ROM files you need and want to flash. Click detect , and connect your phone to the computer( Your phone should be off) , than you should be able to do it, than you can just click start downloading. other alternative would be to just install windows xp, and do it over there.
