iPhone headset (with microphone and keys). Any chance to have it working?

The title says it all.

Once inserted I get the icon with headphones and Mic.

Ear pieces work and the mid button is pause/play.

But the + , the - and the microphone don't work.

On an iPhone it works well.

Is it a hardware compatibility issue or what?

Which headphones are you referring to? I've used the ones that came with my iphone with mine and I don't have a + or - button.

It only has a single button. Haven't tried the mic but as far as the button goes pause and play work and to some extent the double and tripple click (admittedly intermittently)

But not sure I was shocked to see it worked at all.

The new headphones supposedly have an "Apple chip" in them, but I guess someone could write an app that reads the incoming I/O commands.

I also bought a pair hoping they'd work, but am now just using Porta Pro's and the phone mic.

Mine came with a 3GS. They are the newest one ... until the 4G will arrive.
