simple mod for lock screen?

I would like to make a simple change to my lock screen. Right now, at the top, it displays the time (in large font). Next to that is the AM/PM indicator. below the AM/PM indicator is the date.

Right now, it is displayed as "Monday 01.25" and the "01.25" is a little higher than the "Monday" (misaligned?).

I would like the date to be displayed as "Monday 1/25/2010" or "Mon 1/25/2010".

How can I do this?

in case it matters - I have the i920, WM 6.5
