I had a Verizon Omnia i190 and have upgraded to the Omnia 2 i920. On the i910, the screen rotated pretty much whenever the device orientation was changed. Not so on the i920. Some apps rotate the screen when the orientation changes, but most do not. I wouldn't mind so much if I could set a hardware button to rotate the screen, but I can't see how to do that. I can get to the settings to change buttons, but that isn't one of the options.

Is there any way to modify the screen rotation, or assign it to a hardware button? (Sorry if this has been asked, I looked but didn't find anything)

Thanks, but that seems to be for the I8000, I have i920. Have you used it on an i920?

Yes, works great on the i920 (been using it for a couple months now on mine).

If you want to assign a button to rotate the screen, I believe the below steps will achieve this:

To be able to manually rotate the screen in any application: go to registry hk_local machine – system – gdi – rotation; in key HideOrientationUi change 1 to 0. Then open Settings – Personal – Buttons and assign to any button the command “Rotate Screen” (you can see this option after you change the registry and only in winmo setting page).

Thank you for the info about having to be in the winmo setting page. I had already verified the registry setting - it was set to 0 already. But using the Samsung settings, the rotate option still didn't show up. I didn't actually try switching to the winmo settings, because I realized I had SKTools and it had a way to set the buttons. Sure enough, it had the rotate screen option and I was able to set a button with it.

Do a search for Orientation Detection - it's a program which allows you to set auto-rotation for any app.
